Bonus Round 2: Tic-Tac-Toe

Tic-Tac-Toe

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM EDT on 24 June. Late comments are screened and will not receive points.

Get three in a row! That's the goal of this bonus round. Inspired by a fanwork event type called kink bingo, this round encourages you to create and fill out themed prompt cards.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. There's a lot of text here, but if you read carefully and follow the instructions step by step, you will be okay.

RULES
Please refer to the first comment thread of this post for an example of how this round works.

PROMPTING

  1. Select a ship to create your prompt card about. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Haruki & Kazuma). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Haruki/Kazuma). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!

  2. Visit this card generator.
    • Here is a visual guide to using it.
    • The large text box is where you can list prompts if you have your own ideas. Please list at least 9 prompts; you can list more if you want. (The generator says you need at least 24, but it's lying.) Single words or short phrases are better than sentences.
    • Otherwise, you can use the dropdown menu found right below it. Note: some of these prompts lists are NSFW. (NSFW prompts are a-ok as long as you tag for it.) If you don't like some of the options that appear in a prompt list, you can delete them.
    • Text prompts only, please. Also, each card square must be unique—don't list the same prompt 9 times.
    • In "Configuration Options," make sure you select 3x3 and (Normal prompt). This is the most important step!
    • Leave the tic-tac-toe card with its default colors, so everyone can read it clearly.
    • Click the "Create a bingo card" button.
    • Scroll down to see the card that was created for you. If you don't like the prompts it picked, you can reroll by clicking "Create a bingo card" again.
    • When you're satisfied, scroll further down the page until you see a textarea box full of HTML.
  3. Copy and paste the HTML from the box and into the body of your prompt comment, then post!

FILLING

Fill prompts by selecting an individual square to create fanwork for, then leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work. (Optional:) If you can fill three squares from a prompt in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line, you get a tic-tac-toe (and an additional point bonus)! You can also just fill prompts as you please and get standard points.
  • Prompt squares are labeled as follows:
    A1 B1 C1
    A2 B2 C2
    A3 B3 C3
  • If you're trying for tic-tac-toe, you cannot combine squares into one fill. If your fill can satisfy multiple squares, pick the most relevant square: e.g., one square is sailing and another is pirates and you make a fill about pirates sailing, it's mostly pirates so put down the pirates square.
  • Each fill must stand alone as an individual piece, but all your fills can slot into a larger universe if you'd like.
  • You cannot fill a prompt square more than once, but you can fill every square on a tic tac toe card if you want to.
  • You cannot work with your teammates to get a tic-tac-toe. Only individually achieved tic-tac-toes get the bonus.
  • Multiple people can fill the same prompt square. You cannot "block" others from getting tic-tac-toe.
  • Remember to also follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
  • Here is a prompt/fill index for your convenience.

Fills 51+: 1 point each
Tic-tac-toe Bonus: 2 points each for the first 12 achieved by your team

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only (see the line of links below this post).

Emperor-slave AU

***

The first time Akashi sees him is on the battlefield. The emperor is standing on a hill at the back of his army, well out of the range of enemy archers, and surveying the landscape before him. The brunt of the fighting is taking place along his left flank, and he sends a couple of companies of his personal guard to reinforce his lines there. His right flank, backed by a swamp no one wishes to venter into, is held by a ragtag mix of conscripts and prisoners of war, with a few of his officers interspersed to maintain at least a semblance of order. The group's only task is to pick off the brave or foolhardy few who decide to risk the quicksand and mud to try to slip around Akashi's lines.

Akashi doesn't expect much of the group, but to his surprise, there's one fighter who catches his eye. He's not someone Akashi recognizes, but he's clearly well-trained, and he's not letting his companions hold him back. He slips from one pocket of fighting to the next, lithe like a panther and aggressive with his attacks.

"That boy," Akashi says, pointing to the soldier he's been watching. "Bring him to me after this battle."

"Yes, sir."

The battle doesn't last much longer. Akashi drives a wedge through the enemy's lines, splitting them in two, and the opposing generals surrender soon after. The sun is high overhead when the soldier he had asked about is brought before him. The fighter is dragged before him between two guards, with several more standing warily nearby with their hands on their swords. Akashi takes one look at him and concludes he must have been picked up when the army swept through the gladitorial schools to the north a few weeks earlier.

"Your name?" Akashi demands, and the soldier snarls and spits at his feet in reply.

One guard kicks his knees out from under him until he's kneeling in the dirt. Another raises a hand to strike him, but Akashi stops him; no one is allowed to mark his possessions without his permission.

"I asked your name," Akashi repeats, lacing his fingers in the fighter's hair and yanking his head back until he's looking up at him. "You would do well not to defy me." He doesn't unleash the full power of his Emperor Eye, but he does release a sliver of its power, just enough to give a taste of what he can do.

As expected, that only makes the soldier fight harder. "Aomine Daiki," he spits, "and the only one who can beat me is me."

"Maybe that's true," Akashi says. "Certainly no one on the battlefield today even came close to challenging you. I'm having you transfered to my Guard. A fighter as strong as you deserves opponents more worthy of them, and the Guard are always in the center of the fighting."

Aomine doesn't grace that with a reply, but he will learn soon enough what a privilege it is to be a part of Akashi's personal guard. A crowd has gathered around them from the noise, and it's in front of them that Akashi pulls Aomine's head back farther as his brand is burned into Aomine's shoulder. When it heals, it will be a permanent mark of the favor Akashi has shown him.

But it will serve another purpose as well. Should Aomine ever turn his back on Akashi and try to flee, the brand will mark him as a target for friend and foe alike. For Akashi cares deeply about his possessions and shows no mercy to anyone who tries to steal them.

OMG OMG OMG OMG I WASN'T EXPECTING AN AKASHI/AOMINE FILL FROM YOU OMG I DIDN'T LOOK AT THE PAIRING SO I WAS EXPECTING IT TO BE FUJI AND SUDDENLY AOMINE.

*hugs both presh babies!*

So! I love the battlefield details, it was really vivid and easy to picture how it was set up.

he's not letting his companions hold him back

That bit killed me because it says SO MUCH about Aomine and his way of thinking. It's companions, not comrades, and he's basically abandoning them to keep fighting - and he abandons them again and again. So perfect.

I fucking LOVE Aomine spitting at Akashi's feet. NO RESPECT, EVEN WHEN BEATEN AND POSSIBLY ABOUT TO BE EXECUTED. And AKashi using JUST enough power to make Aomine fight harder! Knowing that would happen! Wanting that resistance!

The mental image of Akashi pulling Aomine's head back and branding him is just so so very hot. Like. Sick little punch to the stomach of pure appreciation at what an awful-gorgeous idea it is to humiliate and mark Aomine in front of EVERYONE.

Such a deliciously fucked up dynamic and scene, thank you SO MUCH for this!

Heh, this actually started from the mental image of Akashi holding someone by the hair as he has them branded, and I wanted the power struggle dynamic, which ruled out Fuji since he fights with mind games over physical resistance. Akashi/Aomine is always a dynamic (and usually pretty messed up) relationship to me, because Aomine picks up an almost-feral edge to him, and Akashi doesn't want to crush that, because he wants to use it, but he also wants Aomine to remember who has control (in part because that makes Aomine even more aggressive).
