Bonus Round 3: FSTs

FSTs

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM EDT on 8 July. Late comments are screened and will not receive points.

Profess your love for your favorite ships with the power of song! In this round, we ask you to create fan soundtracks and use them as inspiration for new fanwork.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible.

RULES
  • Submit prompts in the form of a short playlist (1-6 songs) and a ship from any of our nominated fandoms. Submit only the track listing and a link to where they can be listened to; the idea is for others to interpret what you present. You may also link to lyrics if you would like.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Lilia & Sara). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Lilia/Sara). Please don't say "Any pairing," either.
  • Create content based on the playlists of others! Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
  • Fills may be in any form you choose (except for another FST of course) as long as they are inspired by/fit the mood of the soundtrack they are filling for.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
  • Here is a prompt/fill index for your convenience.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only (see the line of links below this post).

Have a question? Check The FAQ first. If you still need help, feel free to contact the mods. Happy fanworking!

You have too many good classical MidoAka prompts.

***

It's been a long time since they played something together, Midorima thinks as he walks into the music store with Akashi. He still remembers the first time they went to this music store together. It was all the way back in middle school. He had been looking for sheet music for the piano for a new concerto his teacher wanted him to work on, and his usual music store hadn't had it. He had complained to Akashi about how it would take a couple of weeks for them to get it in, but his teacher wanted him to have it learned by then for an upcoming concert. Akashi had offered to show him his favorite music store, a little hidden gem tucked back off of a side street. Midorima had fallen in love with it the minute he had walked through the door.

He had gone to that music store every chance he had, he remembers. Often with Akashi, but sometimes just him alone, spending long hours running his fingers over the dusty pages packed tightly onto shelves that stretched far out of even his reach.

He hadn't gone there much after the end of middle school. Even though Akashi had moved away, and he he knew he was unlikely to meet him casually in the store, there were too many memories. It had hurt too much even to walk down the street and see the shop door standing open as if it were beckoning to him.

He thinks it's a sign of how far they've come now that he's setting foot back into this shop with Akashi at his side once more. Even though it's been years, the shop owner recognizes them, and his face lights up.

"I never thought I'd see you again," he says, hurrying around from behind the counter. "You've grown so much. I hope you're still both playing."

"We are," Akashi says, "and we were hoping you could help us find some music."

"What are you looking for?"

"A duet. Something for piano and violin. Preferable something hopeful."

"I think I have just the thing," the shop owner says. "It just came in, but I think you'll like it. It's called 'Somewhere in time.'"

He ruffles through several shelves before pulling out the folder with two sets of music inside. "If you wait just a minute, I think I have a recording of this around here somewhere too."

Midorima and Akashi wait as he digs around in the many CDs behind his desk before putting one into the stereo. They listen as the first few motes of the song fill the store, simultaneously bright and melancholy, and almost dreamlike.

Their hands find one another's seemingly unconsciously as they listen, and when the song ends, they don't even bother asking each other. They both know they've found the right piece.

The shopkeeper smiles as he watches them leave, their hands still clasped.

gosh this was such a sweet little moment, and the owner recognizing them felt so nostalgic and so much like coming home ;; and the way you incorporated the piece was so -- it's a favorite of mine so just imagining akamido playing it made me so emo lmfao. thank you for this xx

Aaahhh, thank you! I'd never actually heard this piece before, but I love it. And I may be biased, but I love nostalgic bookstores and bookstore moments.
