Bonus Round 3: FSTs

FSTs

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM EDT on 8 July. Late comments are screened and will not receive points.

Profess your love for your favorite ships with the power of song! In this round, we ask you to create fan soundtracks and use them as inspiration for new fanwork.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible.

RULES
  • Submit prompts in the form of a short playlist (1-6 songs) and a ship from any of our nominated fandoms. Submit only the track listing and a link to where they can be listened to; the idea is for others to interpret what you present. You may also link to lyrics if you would like.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Lilia & Sara). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Lilia/Sara). Please don't say "Any pairing," either.
  • Create content based on the playlists of others! Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
  • Fills may be in any form you choose (except for another FST of course) as long as they are inspired by/fit the mood of the soundtrack they are filling for.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
  • Here is a prompt/fill index for your convenience.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only (see the line of links below this post).

I'm so happy to see Fuji/Niou!

***

It takes some time for Fuji to get used to Niou's ability to shift his appearance as easily as most people change their clothes. He saw it for the first time when he played Niou in a match, and he'll never forget the way Niou effortlessly took on the skin of Fuji's own captain. Fuji wonders sometimes how much of that match Tezuka heard; he hopes it's not too much. He's not proud of some of the thoughts that escaped as he thought he was playing his captain—thoughts that he would have preferred stayed deep within his own mind.

His first experience with Niou's skill is honestly terrifying as Niou chooses the very forms that will shake him the most, like some sort of boggart pulled from the pages of a book.

It's not until later that he learns that Rikkai's trickster is at least as likely to use his skill for other purposes, proving to be just as skilled at comedy as at horror. The first time Niou takes on Taka's face, Fuji fnds himself looking around for his teammate, even when he knows he and Niou are alone. It amuses him, seeing how his team seems to an outsider, but he's always happy to know that there are little details that Niou misses, little things that Fuji alone knows from having spent so long with his teammates.

It's not just Seigaku either; Niou will take on his teammates' faces as well, though never Yukimura, Fuji notes. Or sometimes characters in whatever movie they're watching together, adding entertaining commentary from the sofa in the character's voice.

Fuji is used to Niou's antics, and he's come to love Rikkai's trickster for his irreverent humor, but those aren't the moments when he loves Niou the most. Those times come later, when Tezuka is off at rehabilitation again after his match with Sanada, and Yukimura is back in the hospital having overexerted himself in his match against Ryouma. Fuji meets Niou late at night after the hospital has finally kicked him out so that Yukimura can rest. They don't say anything. They don't need to. Fuji may not understand everything about Niou's situation, but he understands well enough what it's like to watch powerlessly as someone one cares about is hurt.

When they watch a movie that night, Niou watches with his own face. It's a movie that Fuji has seen before, and he finds himself watching Niou's face instead. Niou usually hides himself behind the mask of others faces, not so different really from how Fuji hides so much of himself deep behind a mask of indifference. Watching Niou when he's only himself is different—more intimate. Fuji knows it's a side of Niou that not many people have seen.

He knows that Niou sees more of him too. He knows it in the way Niou runs a hand along his face as the credits roll and smiles with the sad smile of understanding. On the surface, the trickster and genius may have nothing in common, but deep down, maybe they aren't so different after all.

Oh it's so good!! I like that you have it a magical, actual element, instead of just tennis mimicry. And I like Fuji's guilty thoughts because that's how I roll. >:D

I'm glad you liked it! I'll take any and every excuse to add actual magic to things, especially when Fuji is involved. And I'm glad we are on the same page when it comes to Fuji angst and guilt; I love him dearly, but sometimes he can be supremely frustrating with his burying his feelings so deep under the rug all the time (though Tezuka still wins for #1 most frustrating TeniPuri character (who I also love))
