Bonus Round 3: FSTs

FSTs

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM EDT on 8 July. Late comments are screened and will not receive points.

Profess your love for your favorite ships with the power of song! In this round, we ask you to create fan soundtracks and use them as inspiration for new fanwork.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible.

RULES
  • Submit prompts in the form of a short playlist (1-6 songs) and a ship from any of our nominated fandoms. Submit only the track listing and a link to where they can be listened to; the idea is for others to interpret what you present. You may also link to lyrics if you would like.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Lilia & Sara). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Lilia/Sara). Please don't say "Any pairing," either.
  • Create content based on the playlists of others! Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
  • Fills may be in any form you choose (except for another FST of course) as long as they are inspired by/fit the mood of the soundtrack they are filling for.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
  • Here is a prompt/fill index for your convenience.

If you see anyone breaking the code of conduct (e.g., causing drama, being rude) anywhere (not just DW), please contact the mods immediately.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only (see the line of links below this post).

Have a question? Check The FAQ first. If you still need help, feel free to contact the mods. Happy fanworking!

Of those who could manipulate words, there were two classes: the Dreamers, and the Readers. The Dreamers' power came from their imaginations, from the worlds they could build in their thoughts, and the forms they could shape from little more than a sliver of an idea.

But alone, the Dreamers were powerless. They formed expansive landscapes, but without a Reader, their ideas remained nothing more than that, trapped in their minds without the words to properly articulate them.

The Readers were the opposite. Their power lay in their voices, and in the ability to shape words so carefully that they coaxed them out of the realm of possibility and into reality. But while they could shape the very fabric of space with their words, they lacked the imagination of the Dreamers and needed someone else to seed the ideas for their creations.

As a result Dreamers and Readers always worked in pairs, one giving the rough shape to the idea, and the other refining and pulling it forth. The partnership wasn't without its risks though. History was full of examples of Dreamers whose minds wandered in a battle and gave their Reader a stray thought instead of a useful weapon, and of Readers who took their ability to shape details too far and gave their Dreamer's ideas dark twists and turned them against them.

But despite the risks, both were lauded in stories, and children wished that, one day, they too would join the ranks of the Readers and Dreamers.

Eiji was no exception. He had loved stories for as long as he could remember, spending most of his time lost in his own thoughts. He had always been a dreamer, but it wasn't until he turned fifteen that he became a Dreamer. The first day he met the Reader who was to be his partner, he wondered if the boy, wasn't more suited to being another Dreamer. After all, Fuji spent most of their meeting with his eyes closed and a half-smile on his lips, not unlike how Eiji passed much of his time.

Then he heard Fuji speak for the first time. It was only a simple story, something Eiji had chosen for a first trial run, but Fuji took the idea and shaped it as if it were a world-changing concept, and in the way he crafted the edges of the idea, Eiji could see how much power Fuji wielded with his words, and how easy it would be for Fuji to catch hold of his ideas and weave it into something else entirely.

Eiji shivered at the thought. His nerves must have shown, because Fuji smiled at him, and his reading softened after that, smoothing out the edges of the words into something that was almost a perfect match for what was in Eiji's mind.

But even years later Eiji could never completely forget the hidden edge that Fuji had shown him in that first meeting.

I'm glad you liked it! I love any chance to play with storytelling magic, especially when Fuji is around too.
