Bonus Round 1: Memory

Bonus Round 1: Memory

Let's start our summer by looking at the past—things that happened in canon, or maybe in an AU, or maybe just as wishful thinking...

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on June 9 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES
  • Submit prompts by commenting to this post! You prompt should consist of one scenario beginning with the phrase "Remember when", along with any ship/ot3/etc. from our list of nominated fandoms.
    • Your prompts can take the form of recalling canon facts/events ("Remember when Nozomi and Eli got parfaits after school?"), non-canon events ("Remember when Megumi and Jin met at the Tadokoro Family Reunion?"), or somewhere in-between ("Remember when Bokuto and Kenma first met?"). Headcanons and AUs are welcome!
    • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Rei & Nagisa). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Rei/Nagisa). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
  • Post fills by leaving a responding comment to a prompt with your newly-created work.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

    SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

    For fills:

First 3 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
    Fills 4-10: 10 points each
    Fills 11-20: 5 points each
    Fills 21+: 2 points each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

    Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only.

"Maki-chan! Maki-chan, Maki-chan, Maaakiiii-chan~!"

Toudou's enthusiastic greeting blasted through the speakers of Makishima's phone, forcing him to hold it away from his ear.

"What, Jinpachi?" Makishima asked after the noise died back down.

"Hakogaku just announced their play for the school festival. We're doing Sleeping Beauty! Can you imagine? Everyone lining up to see the Sleeping Beauty onstage playing Sleeping Beauty? I can imagine the crowds now!" he said, and Makishima could picture the pose Toudou was probably making as he spoke.

"So how exactly are ya' going to get this role?" Makishima asked. "Unless ya' joined the theatre club and didn't tell me?"

Toudou laughed. "Of course I didn't, Maki-chan. Fuku would kill me if I tried, and then Arakita would probably tear up whatever was left of me for stressing out his captain." There was a rustle of paper before Toudou spoke again, "But they're having doing open auditions for this one; they're next Tuesday."

"And you're auditioning?"

"Of course I am, Maki-chan. The Interhigh's already over, so Fuku might not kill me, and it's Sleeping Beauty. It's too good an opportunity to pass up. You'll help me practice, right?"

Makishima sighed; Toudou may have phrased it as a question, but it was a statement. The best he could do was pick what time said practice would take place. He often found himself wondering how Ren managed so many high-strung models and actors; he had enough trouble with just the one drama queen in his life.

They finally agreed on Saturday morning for practice, so Makishima wasn't surprised when the weekend came and Toudou arrived on his doorstep at the crack of dawn. He was surprised, however, by the half-awake Fukutomi and irritated-looking Arakita standing behind him. "You brought company, Jinpachi" he said drily.

Toudou practically vibrated with excitement. "If you're directing, then you can't be in the scene, Maki-chan, so I brought more people! Fuku said he'd help out since I stayed late to help clear out the clubhouse all last week, and then Arakita said he'd come when he heard Fuku was coming!"

Makishima spared a quick glance at Arakita. His sullen protectiveness towards Fukutomi was kind of endearing in its own way, though Arakita would never admit to it.

Makishima let the unexpectedly large group in, and Toudou immediately pointed to a chair in the living room. "That's your chair, Maki-chan; you're directing" he said, "and producing, and coaching, and everything else that's not acting. Here's your script. Fuku's the prince, I'm the princess, obviously, and Arakita's the evil fairy."

"Why am I the fucking evil fairy," Arakita grumbled quietly, and Fukutomi surreptitiously kicked him in the shin. After three years, they had both learned that the best was to get out of one of Toudou's schemes was to go along with it until it fizzled out on its own or an opportunity for escape presented itself.

Once everyone had found the correct stop in the script, Toudou announced, "ready when you are, Maki-chan!"

Makishima tried to do his best to channel the directors he had seen on TV as he laid out the first scene. He needn't have worried so much though, since it soon became clear that any scene he tried to set would inevitably be interrupted repeatedly by Toudou. He could give whatever instructions he wanted, but Toudou would jump in with changes as soon as he finished, because clearly the prince needed to be standing here and not there, or the wicked fairy clearly needed to say the line with more emphasis on the last word instead of the first.

It was torturous progress, but by mid-afternoon, they finally made it to the last scene. "This has to be the best," Toudou announced, "otherwise it'll ruin everything else. I'll be asleep here—" he sprawled dramatically on the couch "—and Fuku, you're going to come in from over there and give me the kiss that wakes me up."

A brief look of panic flashed across Fukutomi's face. "I am strong," he muttered to himself. "I am strong. I am strong." He had been repeating his catchphrase like a mantra since the first scene, but its frequency had increased as the day wore on. He was still repeating himself when Arakita stood abruptly, sending his chair clattering back behind him.

"Hell no!" he snapped. "You are not kissing Fuku-chan. Absolutely not."

"But it's in the script," Toudou whined. "How is the princess supposed to wake up if her prince never arrives?"

"The princess can find another prince to wake her up. Maybe go look for a frog or something, isn't that supposed to work?"

Makishima listened to Toudou and Arakita argue back and forth about the scene for several minutes before he finally decided to step in. "Cut!" he yelled, and Toudou immediately froze, Arakita following a split second later.

"I think we've made it through what we needed to see today, ya' know. Arakita, Fukutomi, you can leave now; Toudou and I will workshop this scene on our own later."

The look of relief from Arakita and Fukutomi was almost palpable, and they both rushed out the door as quickly as possible. Their relief was short-lived when they realized that, if Toudou were cast in role he wanted, weekends like this were liable to become a recurring experience.

This is great it had me laughing so much. I love drama queen Toudou and especially Arakita! No you will not be kissing his prince! And poor long-suffering Makishima! Thank you so much for this!
