Bonus Round 1: Memory

Bonus Round 1: Memory

Let's start our summer by looking at the past—things that happened in canon, or maybe in an AU, or maybe just as wishful thinking...

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on June 9 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES
  • Submit prompts by commenting to this post! You prompt should consist of one scenario beginning with the phrase "Remember when", along with any ship/ot3/etc. from our list of nominated fandoms.
    • Your prompts can take the form of recalling canon facts/events ("Remember when Nozomi and Eli got parfaits after school?"), non-canon events ("Remember when Megumi and Jin met at the Tadokoro Family Reunion?"), or somewhere in-between ("Remember when Bokuto and Kenma first met?"). Headcanons and AUs are welcome!
    • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Rei & Nagisa). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Rei/Nagisa). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
  • Post fills by leaving a responding comment to a prompt with your newly-created work.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

Posts not using this format will be understood to be unofficial discussion posts, regardless of what they contain. They, like all comments in this community, are subject to the code of conduct.

    SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

    For fills:

First 3 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
    Fills 4-10: 10 points each
    Fills 11-20: 5 points each
    Fills 21+: 2 points each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

    Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only.

Have a question? Check The FAQ first. If you still need help, feel free to contact the mods. Happy fanworking!

Kanzaki kept her eyes closed.

A thousand hopes and fears had kept her feet trapped solidly on the ground, but she was standing here, now. She had a team. She had support. Hot summer sun burning her neck, she'd only dreamed in the most distant hours that she'd stand here.

Souhoku's jersey fit her more awkwardly than her family's usual brand. With bright yellow on her skin, she felt more like a traffic cone than a racer, but it made people take pause when she walked past. No one stood in her way when she walked through the crowds. But standing before the stage, she couldn't convince herself to open her eyes.

"Please welcome the previous champions, Hakone Academy!"

Six people. Blue and white. The image of it was burned into her mind, just as much as blue pleated skirts and soft thin ribbons. It wasn't anyone who liked her. Tight thin twintails, cat-eye lenses, and a strict eye for rules and consequence.

"If you're breaking in here," she had told her, "I will report you."

"I'm here with Souhoku! We rented the CSP out for the weekend, heheh."

Disbelieving eyes, and more frustration than relief when she'd confirmed it, and hardly a glance back as she'd walked away.

"Are you going to the Interhigh?"

"Girls don't cycle."

"I do!"

"...I suppose do."

Kanzaki shouldn't have held it as so important in her head, or in her heart, but her eyes wouldn't open. Familiar names were announced. All people who'd been there the year before, and she wondered if there wouldn't be a single first year. It made sense - it only made sense - Hakogaku was known for only the best. For a newcomer - for them to allow a young woman without a reputation, 15 and desperate to prove herself.

Or maybe that was just Kanzaki.

"They don't have the full names of all their racers?"

"Apparently some of the paperwork got in late."

Voices of the crowd around still slunk into her ears, till her heart pounded too loud to make out anything.

"Are you sure you want to be on this team?" Kinjou had been so gentle with her. "I know how hard it might be if you're surrounded by men, even if you trust us. I wouldn't force you."

But she'd been so sure.

She'd wanted to bet against hope.

It was static in her ears, rather than words, as her eyes shot open - triumphant, challenging, the widest grin she could put on.

Twintails didn't work for racing.

That representative's hair was curled up into two tight buns at the side of her head, as she glanced down, through sharp purple sunglasses.

Not a sound made it through her ears, but she could watch those lips.

"You really can race."

"I told you!" Kanzaki yelled above the crowd. The two of them were here. She could prove they could stay.
