Bonus Round 3: Gift Tags

Bonus Round 3: Gift Tags

Feeling generous? In this round, you get to give creative gifts as prompts.

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on July 7 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

RULES
  • Submit prompts as a gift tag in the format below. You can specify the size and a characteristic of the gift, who the sender is, who the recipient is, and a one or two sentence note from the sender to the recipient. Descriptions of the package and the included note don’t have to be explicit, see below.
    • Package: medium sized cube, rattles
      From: Kageyama Tobio
      To: Hinata Shouyou
Note: These will help you get better.
    • Envelope: manila, 12''x17'', very thick and heavy
      From: Tezuka Kunimitsu
      To: Kinjou Shingo
Note: Enclosed - Play without regrets!
  • Your prompt MUST include a relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Riko & Momoi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Riko/Momoi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either.
  • Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work. Fillers can get creative with how to interpret the prompt: your fill can be about the character receiving the gift, one or both characters using the gift, what prompted the sender to send the gift—the physical gift itself can even be excluded from your fill. What’s important is that the gift tag is clearly the inspiration for your fill.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:

First 3 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 4-10: 10 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21+: 2 points each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.

As soon as Teshima walked into the club room, Aoyagi handed him a box.

"For me?" he asked, and Aoyagi nodded.

He looked at the label in confusion. The club had ordered some spare parts, but they weren't scheduled to arrive for another few weeks, and they should have been addressed to Koga anyway.

To: Teshima Junta, with ore-sama's regards
From: Ore-sama
I hear you are a tea aficionado. Cheers, friend.

Teshima set the package back on the table and opened it. Its contents were all carefully packaged and wrapped so that there was no room for anything to shift in transit.

He took out the first piece and carefully unwrapped it. It was a saucer of what appeared to be a very expensive china.

"Aoyagi, help me with this?" he asked, and Aoyagi immediately began unpacking from the opposite side of the box.

When they were done, the table was covered with what was clearly a very expensive tea set. Despite the number of pieces, some of which even Teshima didn't recognize, it was clearly also meant for only one person.

"There was no other note?" he asked, and Aoyagi shook his head.

Teshima tried to make sense of what it all meant. He had heard of Hyoutei Gakuen's Atobe; he was fairly certain most high school sports teams had, but he had no idea what had caused the tennis captain to show a sudden interest in him. He assumed it had something to do with his having recently taken over as team captain, but how many others had done the same? What about him had drawn Atobe's attention? Did Atobe see some reflection of himself in Teshima? Teshima hoped not. Atobe may have been a strong captain, but he was also known for being rather arrogant. Teshima knew that could seem that way to some in the heat of the moment, but he hoped that anyone he knew him would recognize that that wasn't his normal demeanor.

"Junta, practice," Aoyagi said quietly, startling him out of his thoughts. He looked up to see the entire team lined up in the clubroom and waiting for his orders.

As they rode out for practice, with each team member pulling in turn, and with Koga and Imaizumi giving advice wherever they saw fit and Onoda encouraging the hesitant new members, he found his answer.

After practice, he had Aoyagi help him pack up the tea set once more. Just before he sealed the box, he added a note of his own.

Dear Atobe-san,

Thank you for the thoughtful gift of the tea set. It is with sincere apology that I return this to you. I am a tea afficionado; however, I cannot accept such an expensive gift from someone I barely know, especially when I am nothing special myself. If you are ever in the area and wish to have tea with myself or my team, please do be in contact though.

Yours truly,
Teshima Junta
