Bonus Round 4: Quotes

Bonus Round 4: Quotes

A shipping olympics favorite, this round uses quotes of all sorts to fuel your creative endeavors.

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on July 21 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

RULES
  • Submit prompts by commenting to this post with a quote attributed to a specific person or character, along with any ship/ot3/etc. from one of our nominated fandoms.
    • Example: "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." - M. Gandhi
    • The quote can come from anywhere. Famous people, poetry, songs, books, movies, your neighbor, etc.
    • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Makoto & Rin). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Makoto/Rin). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
  • Fill prompts by replying to the prompt with your quote-inspired fanwork.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

implied violence, discussion of murder, 408 words
dashes in at the last possible minute oh my god how did this prompt get so fluffy

naoyuki's grin is wild and sharp around the edges, a look chris remembers from the very first time they met, ten years old and already looking like trouble. "all of them, huh?" he says. chris nods and naoyuki laughs, the same kind of laugh as the first time chris suggested teaming up, the same laugh as the first time naoyuki said yes. "i'm game," he says, and chris smiles, less the wolf but no less dangerous.

"i knew you would be," he says, and naoyuki kisses him instead of saying shut up.

"what else did i get into this for," naoyuki says, a good ten minutes later, lips shiny and swollen, arms still twined around chris's neck, "if not a healthy dose of mayhem."

"you're good at that," chris says, dark-eyed, hands steady on naoyuki's hips.

"the best," naoyuki corrects, and it's chris's turn to laugh, fond familiarity a counterpoint to the cold slice of premeditation settled in his gut.

"i wouldn't dream of committing mass murder without you," he says, not quite a joke, not entirely true.

"please," naoyuki says, rolls his eyes, "spare me the melodrama."

"i thought you liked that," chris says, swaying the two of them in a slow circle, less a dance without music than the product of proximity, the restless buzz that lives beneath naoyuki's skin transmitted by touch or long association or something even less tangible, the tangled mass of emotion reserved for someone chris has never quite been able to put down, has never really wanted to. "you made me chase you down twice, after all."

naoyuki scoffs, the set of his shoulders making it clear that he's letting chris direct their meandering path around the room. it's the sort of posturing chris finds boring on most people but acceptable from naoyuki simply because it's true. naoyuki rarely says no to chris because he chooses not to, and he chooses not to because it's chris that's asking, a closed circuit loop not entirely understandable to anyone outside of it.

"i didn't make you do anything," naoyuki says, the tilt of his chin matching the glint in his eye, the exact sort of challenge chris has always been weakest to.

"maybe i wanted to," chris amends, the crooked crescent of naoyuki's smile bright, lighting up the dim interior of the bar. "i did."

"i know," naoyuki says, smug, and takes a step back. "now, didn't we have a massacre to plan?"
