Bonus Round 6: Remixes

Bonus Round 6: Remixes

The event's almost over, and you've made it this far, congrats! This round encourages you to look back at everything the SASO has made and use it as inspiration.

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on August 18 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

RULES
  • Choose a fanwork created by other participants in a previous main or bonus round of SASO and create a new piece based on it. You could create a fanart of another work, an FST inspired by a piece’s style, retell another person’s fanfic from another point of view, create a new fanfic inspired by a great piece of art... go wild!
  • You cannot remix your teammates' works.
  • You must have permission from the original creator. There's a blanket permissions post here (feel free to add yourself to it!), or you can leave a comment on their original post asking for permission.
  • You must include the dreamwidth link to the original work in your post.
  • Since all fills are based on previous works, there will be no prompts for this round. Simply post your fill as a comment in response to this post.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many fills as you want!

For fills:

First 3 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 4-10: 10 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21+: 2 points each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only.

Have a question? Check The FAQ first. If you still need help, feel free to contact the mods. Happy fanworking!

Kozume Kenma/Kuroo Tetsurou, Haikyuu!!
blood/blood-drinking, vampires

Remix of kiyala's BR1 fill.

Kuroo is almost certain Kenma will slip into his room sometime that night; he's been watching for the last few days as Kenma's become more and more fatigued, visibly dragging by the end of their most recent practice.

Their teammates asked if Kenma was feeling all right, and Kenma brushed it off as a couple of nights staying up too late with a new video game, but Kuroo knows the real reason. He knows Kenma hates asking, but he wishes he wouldn't put it off for so long. It hurts him to see Kenma suffering unnecessarily.

Kenma has to give in eventually though, and Kuroo's sure it will be tonight. Before bed, he double-checks that the window is still unlocked and turns up the thermostat in his room by a few degrees. It makes his room a little too hot, and he can feel the heat radiating off of his own body as he overheats slightly, but he leaves it. He knows how much Kenma loves curling up into that warmth, just as he knows Kenma's lost his sense of what's "too warm" and what's "just warm enough."

Even in the slightly uncomfortable heat, it doesn't take him long to fall asleep, and he sleeps soundly until he hears a quiet voice calling his name and feels a familiar, cold hand between his shoulderblades.

"Kenma, is that you?" He already knows the answer, but he asks anyway, his voice slurred by sleep. He slides over and pats the empty space next to him.

"I'll give you my wrist," he says once he feels Kenma slide in behind him. He trusts Kenma, knows Kenma will stop as soon as he's full and long before he's taken too much.

Kenma's touch is always cold, but in the overheated room, his fingers feel like ice as they wrap around Kuroo's wrist and raise it to his lips.

Kuroo braces himself for the bite. No matter how many times it happens, it still hurts. He doesn't flinch this time, but he sucks in a sharp breath as Kenma's fangs pierce the sensitive skin of his wrist. It's dark, but he can still imagine the look of pain that would have flashed across Kenma's face just then, and he curses his body for its traitorous reactions that hurt Kenma.

The pain isn't as bad after the initial bite, a dull throbbing and an unnatural tugging he can easily ignore. He focuses on the feel of Kenma's hands holding him, wonders if Kenma realizes he's rubbing soothing circles on Kuroo's forearm with his thumb.

Kenma's always quiet, but there's a particular quality to the quiet as he feeds—a silent focus as he tries to find the fine line between not feeding enough and feeding too much.

It's not long before he feels Kenma's fangs slide back out of his wrist, and then Kenma murmurs the spell to knit flesh back together, his lips still pressed to the inside of Kuroo's arm. Books always seem to describe healing magic as warm, but Kenma's is as cold as his fingers, a deep chill that sinks through Kuroo's skin and leaves numbness in its wake.

Kuroo's head feels a bit foggy, though he's not sure if that's a result of the hour or the sudden blood loss. Regardless, he curls up and goes back to sleep. With Kenma curled up beside him, his room is no longer too warm. It's just right, and he sleeps more soundly than he has in days.
