Junta has always known that having a sheep guardian was strange, even at a school for sorcery. The fact that his guardian can transform into human form was even weirder, but that wasn't the problem.
The problem was that Hajime is incredibly attractive in human form, and this fact has not gone by unnoticed. This was Junta's fault, probably, for landing on his ass during the last monster invasion and forcing Hajime to transform into his human form to help him. The entire thing ended anticlimactically when the student council appeared minutes later to capture the monster and extinguish the magical fire, but the damage had been done.
Half of the school had gotten a glimpse of Hajime's golden hair and the pressed lines of his butler suit. Shape-shifting guardians weren't super rare, but attractive ones were a sight to behold even outside of the academy. For example, Arakita's guardian turns into a gnarly werewolf and Fukutomi's turtle can't even shape shift.
This made Hajime’s beauty all the more troublesome.
"Everyone is in love with you," Junta says when he finds Hajime napping back in the dorm. He'd spent all day dodging questions about Hajime from classmates, and the sight of Hajime in his sheep form was a welcome reprieve. Junta throws himself on the bed, careful to avoid crushing Hajime, and laughs to himself. "Even Princess Miki would like to invite you over for tea with her rabbit knight."
A flash of light envelopes of the room, and Junta sighs as he looks up to find Hajime hovering over him in human form.
Hajime's voice is soft as he cards his fingers through Junta's hair. "Her knight is of royal lineage too, but you don't have to accept her invitation. I know you don't like Imaizumi."
That was an understatement, but Junta chooses not to ruin the mood with his pettiness. "The entire academy has a crush on you."
Hajime's eyes softens. "Surely, that's an exaggeration."
"Why now? You're intelligent, kind, loyal, and powerful in your own way. Just because we don't come from elite lineage doesn't mean you should discount your charm."
This just makes Hajime smile. "I know, Junta. That's why I'm here. You, too, are kind and loyal. Your wit is worth ten of any royalty here, and everyone knows it. Princess Miki isn't just inviting you for tea because of me. She wants to consult with you."
"Us," Junta corrects. "She wants to consult us."
"Yes," Hajime says, like separation from Junta was never an option. Junta knows this too.
Together, they're going to win the sorcery tournament.
