Midorima paused by the side of her desk, taped fingers gliding against the smooth pressed wood before reaching out to pick up the ripped piece of paper. Eyebrows raising at the name at the bottom, she glanced underneath her lashes at her girlfriend who just beamed at her. She sighed, why give her a note when she could just tell her.

“Takao, why did you give me a--...” Midorima trailed off as a flushed spread across her cheeks, hand sweeping up to cover the bottom of her face as she read the note.

Shiina-chan!! WE HAVE TO GO SHOPPING!!! YOU NEED A NEW SPORTS BRA!! Love, Kazuko ( ´ ▽ ` )♡

“Because I didn’t want to embarrass Shiina-chan!” Kazuko supplied as she smiled at her with her head cradled on her arms. She loved when she managed to get that adorable flush across those fair cheeks, it wasn’t as easily as it has been since they’ve been together since high school.

“But why do I need a new one?” Midorima asked as she pulled out her chair, and swept her hands over backside to pull her skirt in as she sat down sideways in able to speak to Kazuko. She fixed her glasses by pushing up on the bridge before offering her free hand to her girlfriend.

Kazuko didn’t waste any time reaching out to cradle her hand in hers as she smoothed her thumbs over the tape and checked to see if it was still in place from being on the most used part of the body throughout the day. It was fine, mostly intact although the fingers needed to be redone after the next class.

Kazuko hummed before she turned her eyes up to a patiently waiting Shiina before smiling. “I think you filled out some more because it's cutting into your back near the shoulders blades and neck.”

Midorima nodded and they sat in a comfortable silence. “It’s a date then.” Reaching over, she dug around in Kazuko’s backpack before grabbing her scrapbook. Since they had the same college core classes they just shoved everything into one bag and traded it off between the two of them.

Pulling out her pencil case, she grabbed a small roll of washi tape, a pen, and some roll on glue before adding the note to her collection of every note that her girlfriend had given to her over the years since they started dating. Which is often enough to have to carry it with her.

Kazuko huffed before leaning her chin on her hand to give her some room. “I don't know why you do that. They're just notes.”

Midorima huffed as she bordered the tape around the paper before adding the date in smooth calligraphy. This simple girl, but her simple girl. “It’s to remind me that you care about the small things, you doofus.”

Kazuko whined loudly. “But I tell you I love you every day!”

Midorima paused before nodding. “You do, but here look.” She flipped the scrapbook back near the beginning, showing the Valentine’s card, and pressed flowers she had painstaking pinned there.

Shiina-chan!! It’s Valentine’s day! I know this isn't traditional chocolate because you hate the taste but here are some flowers I found! Be ready at 3pm, because we're going on a picnic!! Love always, Kazuko (◕▽◕✿)

“You bought me my favorite flowers on Valentine’s day. And on my birthday, you took me to the opera.” She said as she flipped through the pages.

Shiiiiiii-chan!!! I bought you a fancy dress for your birthday and make reservations at that really expensive place we both like! I’m still tutoring until 4 but be ready by 6. See you soon! Love, Kazuko ( ˘ ³˘)♥

Right under this beautiful printed card with messy and drawn out writing was a stub to the opera and a business card to the restaurant. Midorima ran her finger against the print before smiling at Kazuko who looked slightly stunned.

“It’s the small things that matter.”
