if you want to be Icarus
Tell me, tell me how many bones have you broken, and how many tears did you shed?
Did you cry when the floor met you or did you laugh at the things that should’ve held you down instead?
Is it true, is it true then, that flying’s not the problem, but it’s the mess of paperplanes inside your room, inside your head that’s keeping you from finding land again?
(I thought you knew better if you want to be Icarus, you have to love falling so much more than anything else you’ve ever had.)

if you want to be Icarus
Tell me, tell me
how many bones
have you broken, and
how many tears did you shed?
Did you cry when the floor met you
or did you laugh at
the things that should’ve
held you down instead?
Is it true, is it true
then, that
flying’s not the problem,
but it’s the mess of paperplanes
inside your room, inside your head
that’s keeping you from finding
land again?
(I thought you knew better
if you want to be Icarus,
you have to love falling
so much more
than
anything else
you’ve ever had.)
