The Kii to my heart edition (aka Kii appreciation post!)

There's something about how Kyoutani is the one who steps off first but still yearns, he still keeps hoping that Yahaba will be the one to seal things together again. It's all tentative and sort of I-want-to-hope-but-do-I-actually-deserve-to and when you contrast it with Yahaba's own resolve to not right Kyoutani's wrong and wants him to own up to it himself, the pain of it all bruises my heart T__T It's very true to life in the worst/best sort of way because haven't we all had those moments where we wished we were a little braver but never followed through?

I'm a weak sucker for fire imagery and Kii's sense of description has always been amazing. I love how Akaashi is a god of the skies and Oikawa, a phoenix, is supposed to rank under him, but even he notes how Oikawa isn't the type to be a tamed bird and he accepts it. AND OIKAWA,, SIGHS LOVINGLY...HE IS BEAUTIFUL, HE IS FIRE, AND I AM SO IN LOVE WITH HOW HE IS NOT FAZED WITH AKAASHI'S POWER, HOW HE STEPS INTO AKAASHI'S ARMS ON HIS OWN VOLITION. I especially love this part:
"Tooru, for all of his grandeur, for the love that he garners no matter where he turns, still knows to concede when concessions are due. His wings are not feather but flame, but it's still Keiji that he defers to, it's still Keiji that he must respect.
"You aren't very good at playing the part of a tamed bird," Keiji murmurs, his words almost carried away by the wind. "But then again, I suppose that it's not what you are."

Sometimes I really want to (lovingly) strangle Kii because their way with words is as ethereal as this piece. I love how hazy, cloudy everything feels; I love how impossible situations for Hanamaki to be in are made possible because it's his dreams, and I love Oikawa is a constant in every single one of them. Reading this makes me feel like those moments where I drift off but then jerk awake because of those random freefall sensations we get just as we're about to hit REM. And that twist at the end *cracks my fingers* who needs Inception when Kii makes dreams like this.
