Title: Knight Tadokoro Swears Fealty to Kinjou

Why is this work awesome?: I adore all the thought that has gone into the world for this fic in which Tadokoro, baker's son and royal cook, embarks on the difficult path toward becoming a knight just because prince Kinjou indicated he'd like Tadokoro at his right hand. The progression of the story is steady and rewarding as Tadokoro meets new people, learns new things, and comes to his point of personal challenge. And the characterization of everyone — especially the minor characters, and I do love the choice in minor characters like Miki, Tooji, and Makishima! — is definitely a delight.

Why is this work awesome?: Kii fits so much history into such a small space, detailing Teshima and Aoyagi's journey to become a double battling team of two in the pokemon universe. As someone who really loves pokemon, all the details about their teams and training and techniques for battle are really delightful, especially in how they reflect quite excellent characterization of both characters. The development of their relationship is a quiet undercurrent beneath the development of their partnership and I love that, too, it feels incredibly natural and earned.

Title: Tadokoro & Shinkai at a Food Festival

Why is this work awesome?: The best thing about this fic is definitely the depiction of Smorgasburg. In a fic where Tadokoro and Shinkai have each been drawn to a legendary food festival to sample all of its strange and fantastic edible wares, the descriptions of the food really make it. Likewise, the way Tadokoro is depicted — enthusiastic and gung-ho but still a bit of a novice and regretting some of his choices — is a lot of fun, as is how quickly he hits it off with Shinkai. (Not to mention the callback to best boy Onoda at best buy is a delight of an Easter egg.)
