Thiiiiis ended up more cracky-humor than I intended but I hope you enjoy it anyway!

A stick bounced off Kevin’s head.

“Hey!” He turned around quickly.

The next stick bounced off Kevin’s shoulder.

“Stop that!” He glared at the dark-haired boy (Kiri Hurry, he thinks his name is, or something like that, what a weird nickname) who was currently standing next to a pile of sticks. When Kiri realized he’d gotten Kevin’s attention, he picked up two sticks and rubbed them together suggestively.

Kevin’s cheeks turned red.

“Not NOW, you stupid pervert!” He yelled, stomping over to grab one of the sticks and pull it away from Kiri. “I’m still sore from this morning!”

Kiri didn’t resist Kevin taking the stick away. Instead, he gave Kevin a second stick and looked at him expectantly. When Kevin didn’t do anything, he scowled.

“What, am I supposed to play the drums with them?” Kevin asked, scowling back. “Is your idea to scare them off with a little war music?”

From his eyeroll, Kiri clearly understood Kevin’s tone, if not his words. He squatted down, grabbed two sticks, rubbed them together and then fluttered his fingers over where he’d let them fall.

He then said something in Japanese and looked up at Kevin again.

“...You’re terrible at charades,” Kevin informed Kiri, staring down blankly at the two sticks. What was that finger fluttering supposed to be? Magic? Puppeteering motions?

Kiri wrapped his arms around himself, shivered exaggeratedly, then pointed at the sticks. He repeated the same Japanese word as before.

“Fire?” Kevin asked, perking up as he thought he understood. “You want to make fire by rubbing two sticks together?”

Kiri repeated the charade and Kevin nodded, dropping down to his knees.

“Move, I was a Boy Scout, I can figure out how to build a fire.” He hoped. But even if he couldn’t, it wasn’t as if Kiri would understand that Kevin had said he could.

FINALLY. Kirihara had been about to consider using the sticks to run Kevin through when the American managed to actually start the fire. It was a primitive weapon, as far as weapons went, but it was better than nothing.

Now he had to explain to the other boy that they needed to set up a fire break and prepare their camp. The Predators had chased the other group but they’d come for the two teenagers soon enough, Kirihara was sure.

And he was going to make sure they regretted it!

Fire was man’s oldest weapon. If those insectile fuckers didn’t burn, that was fine. Kirihara had been sharpening rocks and tying them to the larger, sturdier sticks with a twine-like creeping plant he’d found. It held well enough.

Of course, spears and fire were only secondary weapons for Kevin to use as Kirihara’s backup.

For himself, Kirihara had a far better weapon: his tennis racket AND three tennis balls for ammo.

Those poor aliens wouldn’t stand a chance.
