Youzan can't sleep, the entire night he gets home from playing against Robo.

There's something that feels like it's trapped in his chest, a fluttering excitement, a funny kind of anticipation even though he doesn't know what he's waiting for, a thudding drumbeat that is living where he's sure his heart should be.

He feels better than the first, second, or third time that he heard that perfect sound of Robo's club connecting with a golf ball. That was a mix of satisfaction and a burning need to know who that sort of swing belonged to. This is something more than that. The fire hasn't receded at all, but it's repurposed itself. He's found a staggering amount of potential sitting in the hands of someone who didn't even realise they possessed it and he can't stop thinking of what it would be like to go up against him once he's found a way to focus that potential into something as direct as his laserbeam. Youzan is certain that it's going to be just as beautiful as watching that golf ball fly straight through the air, that Robo is going to become the sort of rival that Youzan has wanted his entire life, whether he be wielding a sword or a golf club. Someone who he can play against who will take this just as seriously as he does; a life or death situation where only one of them will truly emerge from it the same as they went in.

Right now, Youzan feels his loss working its way through his bones and changing who he is, and he wonders if every loss feels like this, or if it's simply because he hasn't experienced one in a while. He already wants to make his way out to the driving range as soon as possible so he can take more practice swings and see if he can recreate the way Robo moved, the sway of his hips, the level of focus.

Or perhaps he just wants to think about Robo, he thinks to himself, covering his face with his hands. He isn't sure how to separate his anticipation for their next match from his anticipation to see Robo again, and doesn't know just how much they feed into each other. Maybe he just wants to spend more time listening to Robo's way of speaking, just as straightforward as his swings, not wasting a single word. Maybe he just wants to show up to the driving range and watch Robo take those practice swings instead of doing them himself. Maybe he just wants to see Robo.

He shakes his head at himself, and decides that at the very least, he can figure it all out later. Right now, he just has to wait for Robo to improve enough to challenge him again.
