this ended up being more like a bunch of short snapshots together but... i hope you like it anyway?

the queen bed is too big for their little bedroom and too small for three college boys, yet through some sheer force of will they made it work. they pushed it into the corner, angled nicely underneath the room's only window with just enough space to open their closet and open the door to the rest of their shared space.
it's everything he wants, daichi thinks, even when he wakes up with both of his arms humming numb radio static in his brain.
the rain is always loud against the windows in tokyo. more than it ever was in miyagi - suga blames it on all the extra cars and the clump of restaurants at the end of the block.
alone, he thinks it would drive him insane. he relishes sleeping in because he only has so many days where he can, and he wants to treasure it. not be forced awake by the pit pit pat of raindrops and footfalls.
but he's not. he's got his two favorite people with him; so buries himself between them for the quiet, the warmth, and suga finds peace.
his alarm is set before all the rest, accomodating for his earlier schedule. it doesn't bother him to be awake before the sun, though kuroo find himself more mornings than not laying awake for an extra ten minutes before getting up and ready for the day.
the room is a dulling gray, early morning light filtering through to make white outlines across the rumpled sheets, tucked in legs, and the sleepy face tucked against his shoulder.
it all bids kuroo to stay, to savor just a bit longer.
the smell off coffee is what wakes him up.
daichi takes care to untangle from suga as he sits up and pads out of bed, crossing the few measly feet from their bedroom to their galley kitchen. it's where he knew kuroo would be, bed head twice as bad as normal and starting down at their little french press.
"don't glare at henry this early." daichi loops his arms around kuroo's waist and kisses his bare shoulder. "he's doing his best."
"good morning to you too." kuroo leans back to plant a kiss on daichi's crown. "and i'm hurt you think i would do such a thing to our son."
daichi chuckles, resetting his body against kuroo the way it was before they decided to get up and be respectable for the day. "just making sure."
"mhmn." kuroo shifts only to grab two mugs from the drying rack. "now, where's our sleeping beauty?"
"well, you're up, i'm up, coffee is nearly done so i'd say... five, four, three, two--"
"tetsuuuu, daiiiichi..."
"one." daichi snaps his fingers and kuroo laughs so hard he snorts.
"are you teasing me? already?? jerks."
"sorry." daichi says only half meaning it, "no name calling in front of henry." kuroo's says at the same time, very much meaning it.
"i can't believe i love you two." suga sighs, and gets the milk.
they sit at their small table when the coffee is finally ready, legs tangled together again, and know that no matter where they go from here, the tender moments they share will always be with them.
