I keep reading this over and over. It's not what I expected at all and it's absolutely wonderful! You built this whole mythology in the details and it's creepy and sad all at once and I love it! It's a perfect atmosphere with everything in stark black and white and red, and things like the fountain and blood in the grass instead of dew.

I winced at Asahi biting down on the glass flower. His quiet determination, even with how uneasy he is, is so fitting for him and really makes me feel for him. That last line broke my heart, too. After all that, what did he get back?
