Alex isn't smiling when she lets Atsushi in. That's enough of a sign that things haven't somehow improved magically in the past few hours since he'd last visited. A shame, Atsushi thinks to himself, but he lifts the jar that he's carrying, with a blue flame inside it. He doesn't know how Tatsuya's soul managed to scatter itself into tiny pieces, or why they appear as little blue flames, but he isn't going to ask questions. He's simply going to hunt them down and bring them back, piece by piece until he has the whole thing, and he can have Tatsuya back to how he was before.

"This is the fifth one," Atsushi tells Alex, crossing the room of her apartment to add this soul to the bigger container where they're collecting all of them. "I want to see him."

"He won't be the person that you know," Alex warns him. "He's missing far too much of himself for that. He might not even remember who you are."

"I just want to see him," Atsushi replies. Even though he's dropped by here several times since Tatsuya's soul first scattered, he hasn't been able to actually see Tatsuya. He needs something to push him along, to make him work faster.

She's keeping Tatsuya in the spare bedroom for now, and Atsushi walks in, shutting the door behind himself. He hears Alex making herself comfortable outside the door, in case he needs her help.

He knows he won't; it doesn't matter how much of Tatsuya is there, it doesn't change the fact that it's still him. He even looks the same, lying on the bed in the spare room with his arms folded behind his head, staring up at the ceiling.

"You know he's not really home, don't you?" he asks Atsushi. "Tatsuya, or Muro-chin,or whatever else you want to call him. He's not here at the moment. There's no point in visiting."

"Who are you, then?" Atsushi asks, standing by the door.

"I'm what's left when all the nice parts of him go away," Tatsuya replies with a dangerous smile. He gets up on his feet, backing Atsushi against the door. "You could say I'm the real version of him, without all the fluff. I'm the part of him that will do whatever I can to win. The part of him that hates losing, more than anything else in the world."

"I like that part of him," Atsushi murmurs. "You're just like me."

"Don't flatter me," Tatsuya replies, shaking his head. He grabs a fistful of Atsushi's shirt and yanks him down into a hard kiss. "He wants you all the goddamn time, you know. It's every second thought he has."

"Are you trying to scare me?" Atsushi asks, and bites Tatsuya's mouth, tugging at his lip between his teeth. "It's not working. I want him too. But right now, I want him whole. I'll see you later, Muro-chin."

With a loud exhale, Tatsuya laughs hollowly. "I guess you will."
