Imayoshi goes to Kirisaki Daiichi first and Hanamiya follows. I am such a sucker for this ship. Warnings for violence, crippling sports injury and … yeah this is just an AU, I just want to write these two winning, I’m so sorry.
***
Hanamiya’s not Aomine. He’s heard about how the ace of the Generation of Miracles whines that nobody can match him, that basketball’s so easy that it’s no longer a challenge.
Idiot..
Why would anyone want an equal? Hanamiya has one in Imayoshi but he never wanted anyone to see through him. He never felt lonely because he’d been on his own, a boy with an intellect so sharp and refined that his genius was monstrous.
He’d never asked for Imayoshi and yet, when it was time to choose a school, Hanamiya followed him to Kirisaki Daiichi.
No other captain would let him have as much fun, Hanamiya tells himself even though he knows that any other captain, he could force into retirement easily.
*
“What a faithful kouhai,” Imayoshi says and Hanamiya wants to shatter his teeth, break that perpetual smile and see what Imayoshi looks like with blood all over his face and dripping down from his lips.
It’s the closest to arousal that Hanamiya can come.
*
Together, they’ll take revenge for how cruelly Teiko dominated the court. With the Generation of Miracles split up, they are far easier prey.
After all, Hanamiya’s not aiming to win. All he needs to do is cripple them - and Imayoshi will lead Kirisaki Daiichi to victory, sending the players sliding along the lines of Hanamiya’s spiderweb.
*
Kise’s foot gives out, apparently suffering the aftereffects of a match with Aomine, and Hanamiya barely resists the urge to toss a Teardrop shot over his prone body. He feigns shock instead, kneeling over Kise, and apologizes tearfully.
*
Midorima takes so long to wind up for his perfect 3-point shots. It’s the easiest thing in the world to close the web tight around him, to screen him from view and shove him down right as he starts to rise. He hits the ground hard, leg twisted at a strange angle, and the Uncrowned King stands triumphant over the fallen Miracle.
*
Aomine’s shoulder is still weak from his game with Kise. Tch. The way he carries himself makes it so obvious that Hanamiya wonders what Aomine is even doing on the court. Did the coach think nothing else would do to beat Kirisaki Daiichi? Well. It’s a compliment, in a way.
Hanamiya pays back the compliment by driving his elbow into Aomine’s shoulder as Aomine’s coming down from a rebound. No more shots for Aomine. That shoulder will twinge every winter and remind Aomine of his arrogance in playing injured.
*
The purple monster Murasakibara is more of a problem than Hanamiya had expected. He’s too big for any of the Kirisaki Daiichi members to screen effectively. They’d have to climb on top of each other’s shoulders to block him from view completely.
They whittle him down slowly, a war of attrition, until finally Murasakibara’s knee is weak enough to crack and cripple him.
*
The night before the match before Rakuzen, Hanamiya and Imayoshi are going over strategies in Imayoshi’s room. Hanamiya huffs, finally, and pushes the notebook away.
“If the trick really is to be deaf and not make eye contact, we’re going to have to be practically mindreaders to coordinate with each other,” he says, flopping back to lie on Imayoshi’s bed.
Imayoshi’s eyes open just a crack, revealing stainless steel eyes (blades thirsting for blood) and he runs his hand along Hanamiya’s cheek. “Not if you take him out first, my little assassin.”
