Your very next fill for this round made it clear you’re a Homestuck so suddenly my head went WHAT IF IT WAS A VIOLET BLOOD THAT RIN RESCUED?! And thus this remix was born!

Reen didn’t even want to know what had happened to the violetblood. If there was something in the ocean capable of harming the second-toughest of trolls, it was all the more reason for Reen to stay away from the ocean.
His lusus peeked over his shoulder, making an inquiring trill, and Reen sighed.
“Do you think we should take it home?” He asked Gou. Violetbloods were known to be violent and dangerous. Leaving it to bleed out on the sand would surely be safer than trying to nurse it back to health.
On the other hand, Reen only had a palemate. If the drones came, Reen would be culled. A violet blood could provide some protection against that fate.
Besides, unconscious and bloodied, the violetblood didn’t look so dangerous…
Gou solved his dilemma by picking the violetblood up, pincers closing around the troll’s waist, and then scuttled back towards Reen’s hive.

Reen heaved the troll into the ablution trap and turned it on. The troll’s eyes opened and for a second, Reen could’ve sworn they were indigo instead of violet, the deep rich blue of the ocean during a moonlight night - but the blood all over him had been violet.
When ablution trap drained, however, the wounds left open and oozing were indigo.
“I thought you were a violetblood,” Reen said stupidly, staring at the wounds and recalculating. Indigos were usually bigger and stronger than this one even before they were adults.
The troll blinked, the sweep of his dark eyelashes oddly striking. “No.”
A pause and he added reluctantly, “But one attacked me.”
Reen thought of all the blood that had been on him and blanched. This troll had done that much damage to a violetblood?!
“And you survived?!” He asked, unable to believe it.
The troll shrugged, then winced as the motion caused his wounds to start bleeding more urgently. “So far.”
His gaze dipped downwards again, “I’m in your debt. My name is Haruka.”
“Reen,” Reen said, offering his nickname instead of his full name. He pushed his hair back with a wet hand and offered his hand to Haruka. “Come on. I’ll get you cleaned up.”
He’d been hoping for protection from the drones courtesy of a violetblood but with how his stomach twisted whenever the blueblood looked at him, maybe he could just get himself a matesprite instead.

Haruka. What a cute name.
