that one line stuck in my head forever, and I wanted to take this picture for your fill for a long time
***
After, when the moon had vanished, and most of the others had gone back, Yamaguchi stayed with Kageyama. It was hard to talk after something so tiring, so exhausting, had taken so much energy from him, and Yamaguchi knew by now that Kageyama was no good for words. But for all that Yamaguchi felt he could not do during the thickest part of Kageyama’s transformation, now, as it finishes and ebbs from his body, now Yamaguchi could do the most good.
He remembered Kageyama telling him in the greenhouse how much he hates the full moon, and so Yamaguchi snuggles close to Kageyama’s belly, wriggles his way to Kageyama’s now all the way human elbow, and chirps and purrs soft noises, chitters little stories from classes shared with other Houses, moves his nose and jerks his head when Kageyama seems close to falling asleep (because Kageyama hates waking up out the in the wrong place, too cold and too human for the places he ran as a wolf), squeaks if he has to. Kageyama may hate the full moon itself, but Yamaguchi wants to make sure he has no reason to hate his experience before, during, or after. And his little body can be just the right amount of comfort while Kageyama knits himself back together, warm and soft and sweet.
