a little short? an excuse to think about how a dynamic between those 3 would work lol

It was all strategy. Natsuo liked Manami because she could see the kind of predatory ambition she almost exclusively felt. Had they been the same age, she probably would’ve challenged her a long time ago, but alas, she was older and more experienced. Maybe one day, she thought. For now, she didn’t mind watching her back as they made their way to challenge Cordeiro’s disciples.
Haruka disagreed, and it pissed her off that she could just guess Natsuo’s thoughts. No, Manami wasn’t as selfish, her competitiveness definitely came from a different place, and rather than ruthless she was more the type to fall victim to random whims. Manami actually knew a thing or two about loyalty and extending a hand to others; Not to the extent where she’d be at risk because of it, but Haruka still stuck around and acted as an extra pair of eyes for her.
Manami was way more pragmatic about it. She had a territory and it had been trespassed, which was as rude as it was exciting. There was a priestess or something in town, a strong human of another faith that was heading to her temple, not caring to pay their respects nor to stop and think that maybe this wasn’t the place to pick a fight with her.
A cat saw god leave his basket of souls unattended, took the chance to snatch 8 extra souls for itself. A cat sees a mouse walk into its den, it suddenly has something to do and it’s been made so much easier too. A cat mentions it to a huge harpy that’s been hanging around lately and the human that comes serve her from time to time, and they want in too — The harpy to try her hand at whoever the companion is (Manami doesn’t know, though upon describing the energy that came that way the other’s eyes light up with recognition), the human because she doesn’t trust the harpy and she likes to watch and learn anyway.
"They'll be here soon", announces Natsuo from where she's perched on the roof. Haruka grips her sword tighter but otherwise says nothing, alternating between controlling the road ahead and keeping an eye on the girl above. Natsuo offers her a smile, and next time her eyes are on her she's midway breaking the seal on her form, teeth growing sharp, hair quickly growing into a mess of feathers.
"It should be fun", practically purred Manami. She walks forwards with feline grace, unthreatened, lurking forward with mesured pace. Haruka doesn't need to look to know that her gaze has turned wild and thrilled and her hands rest by her side like weapons aching to make a wound. "Let's hope they don't disappoint, hmm ~ ?"
