You’re not mean,
and your fist
on my jaw
well, I always asked for it
A buzzing in your ear like insects in summer air,
constant reminders that
you’re
here,
and
I’m
here,
but we aren’t here together.
Always thought I’d find my victory
spilled from the empty liquor bottles across
my kitchen counter.
When you throw them against the wall,
they shatter
but I’m watching the glass,
a galaxy of stars sparkling against dark floors,
if it cuts you before you leave
maybe you’ll remember what we could have been,
if we were supernovas,
I think we’d explode together.
