in the darkness, you are light (you might not think so, but you are, brighter and brighter than any other.) when i was lost, you helped guide me where i should be
“what more motivation do you need,” you said, “than pride?” the words are jarring, but much needed eye-opening. like i can finally see and understand something i didn’t before.
(because you know. you know what it is like, to be at the bottom and hopeless, frustrated and ashamed. and maybe that is why you are so bright. you flickered a little, but grew into a stronger, brighter beacon.)
one that i respect and admire, one that i want to follow to guide me home, to where i belong, past an ocean i was once lost and submerged in.
sometimes the very brightest don’t know, don’t know just how much they shine. but with you and your light, i don’t feel lost.
i feel back have gotten back on a path i had once fallen from, one i had been afraid to step foot on. but now, i am on my way home.

in the darkness, you are light
(you might not think so, but you are,
brighter and brighter than any other.)
when i was lost, you helped guide me where i should be
“what more motivation do you need,” you said, “than pride?”
the words are jarring, but much needed
eye-opening.
like i can finally see and understand something i didn’t before.
(because you know. you know what it is like,
to be at the bottom and hopeless, frustrated and ashamed.
and maybe that is why you are so bright. you flickered a little,
but grew into a stronger, brighter beacon.)
one that i respect and admire,
one that i want to follow
to guide me home,
to where i belong, past an ocean i was once lost and submerged in.
sometimes the very brightest don’t know,
don’t know just how much they shine.
but with you and your light,
i don’t feel lost.

i am on my way home.
