The moonlight hits Manami's face in a way that almost makes him glow, like he's an ethereal being taken human form, and Toudou thinks to himself that right now, he'd believe it if that's what he was told.
He'd believe most things about Manami, to be entirely honest. He's full of mystery, deceptively profound, full of hidden depths and right now, there's nothing Toudou wants more in the world than to explore them, to reach into the very depth of him and understand him, like nobody else does.
The way that Manami is smiling at him, it's almost as if he'd even let Toudou do it. Either that or swallow him whole, and Toudou isn't sure that's such a bad thing either. Manami would probably find a way to make him enjoy it while it happens.
Manami is slinking towards him, like he can read Toudou's mind, like he knows that he has Toudou utterly rapt. He climbs into Toudou's lap, lips still curved into a smile, and pulls him in, teasing him with light kisses that end just as Toudou wants to continue them. He starts at Toudou's lips and then covers his face with them, up one side of his face to his forehead, then down the other side, to his chin, to his neck, where the gentle brush of his lips turns into the sharper press of his teeth.
Toudou is helpless, falling, sprawling, pinned under Manami's gaze, razor sharp as it probes into him. For all that he wants to get inside Manami's head and figure out what makes him tick and how, Toudou feels that Manami is doing the exact same thing to him instead, reading him like a book, turning him inside out. Manami himself remains a mystery, but that just pulls Toudou in even more, makes him want to keep pushing Manami's buttons until he finds the right one, until he can unravel Manami in return.
He tries it with his lips, with his fingers against Manami's skin, tracing invisible patterns, trying to find his most sensitive spots and only giving away his own in the process. He tries and tries and it doesn't feel like Manami is taking the upper hand as much as it feels like Toudou is just giving it to him, presenting it to him on a platter as if to say, here, this is all I have but you can take it, and take some more.
Climbers should understand each other, Toudou thinks, they must all have something in common, to make them see a slope as something to be conquered and not a hardship to be endured. There must be a common thought process, a common approach to life for them to turn out like this, but with Manami pressed against him, breathing harshly as they kiss and bite each other, Toudou can't find it, can't even get is footing on the chaotic mess that is Manami's psyche.
It shouldn't pull him further in. He should know better than this. He does know better than this.
But Toudou's always loved the uphill battles the most.
