Bonus Round 2: Images

Please read the rules carefully before posting!
This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on June 23 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.
RULES
- Submit prompts in the form of a canon screencap from one of our nominated fandoms along with a ship. Screencaps can be from the anime or manga, as well as any other kind of offshoot media, e.g. official art, drama CD covers, light novel illustrations, magazine covers, photos from stage plays, and/or caps from games.
- Doujinshi, fan-made games or any other fan-created work should not be prompted, even if you receive permission. Only prompt official, canon artwork.
- Keep your prompt concise. Don't prompt a whole manga chapter, for example.
- Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Abe & Tajima). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Abe/Tajima). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
- Upload the cap somewhere (imgur works well) and post here with the images themselves or a link to them. Including a text-only summary of the image is encouraged.
- Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work inspired by the cap.
- Fills can be directly connected to the cap, e.g. panel redraws or writing fic that fleshes out the moment that was capped or that fleshes out what happened directly before/after, but fills can also be more indirectly linked. As long as the work is somehow inspired by the cap, it counts.
- Fills that are too long to fit in a single comment should have the rest of the fill placed as replies to the original fill comment. The subjects of these extra comments should be something like "part 2 of X" or "continued."
- Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

Miyuki doesn’t like runners on base. Still: "Glaring at the runner isn't gonna change the fact that he got on base," Chris says.
Chris tries to make a point of not interrupting play to go to the mound, but he likes to think he knows how to pick his battles.
"I'm not glaring at the runner," Miyuki says simply.
"Well, you’re definitely glaring, but I know it's not me you're mad at," Chris says. "Relax. You're thinking too much."
Miyuki meets Chris' eyes, brows arched, as if challenging Chris to prove it.
He doesn't need to, though. It's impossible to miss, clear in the way his eyes are picking the batter apart (and Chris has to wonder if the batter even knows, if he realizes he's being analyzed from behind home plate and from behind the pitcher's line), in the way his fingers restlessly roll the ball in his hand, over and over.
"Would you rather I not think at all?" Miyuki asks.
"That's not what I said and you know it," Chris responds. He bumps his mitt against Miyuki's chest. "Focus on the batter and let me worry about the rest."
I won't let him steal off of you.
After a moment, Miyuki nods. "Okay."
Chris allows himself a smile and a nod before heading back to home plate.
The next batter is nothing special, Chris knows—a good chance for Miyuki to get his head on straight after allowing a runner.
He signals.
There's a moment where Miyuki doesn't visibly react—it's a pattern Chris is familiar with, a rhythm he's long since grown accustomed to. Chris knows, now, after more than a few late nights spent catching Miyuki's pitches, that there's always a beat where Miyuki considers, where he decides if the observations and details that he has—and the conclusion he reaches as a result—match up with the call Chris makes.
Usually, they're on the same page, and he'll get a nod and a familiar smile: a tilt of the lips that spells trouble for the batter and good fortune for Seido.
Like right now, for example—Miyuki draws back, the ball soars into Chris' mitt as if drawn by a magnet, low and away but just inside the box.
Strike one.
Other times, though—other times Miyuki will see something different, or want to take a different course of action, and he'll shake his head.
Even then, though, he usually knows what Miyuki has on his mind—they have the same scenarios running through their heads, he's sure.
But in terms of sight, Chris has a clearer picture of the field. He holds Miyuki's eyes steadily, considers the suggestion for just a moment (a sign of respect, seemingly small but utterly crucial), before repeating the call. He takes position, his posture leaving no room for further discussion.
After a few seconds, Miyuki nods.
Chris worries for the day another catcher—one that can't read Miyuki and understand everything going on in his head, one that Miyuki doesn't trust as much—sits behind home plate.
But they have plenty of time before they have to worry about that.
For now, they have this batter.
While the route of Miyuki's pitch is different this time (arcing away from the batter, just scraping the corner of the strike zone), it meets Chris' mitt with the same satisfying crack.
Truly, Chris shudders to think what would have happened had Miyuki gone to any other team, if Miyuki had gone anywhere with a catcher that was used to unyielding obedience instead of a catcher that allowed for a give and take.
Then again, there aren't many pitchers Chris would do this for. Tanba has always needed a nudge, a gentle lead, and it's something Chris has always been more than happy to give him. Really, most pitchers—especially at this age—weren’t quite honed practitioners but rather a mass of raw talent, in need of honing and focusing.
Miyuki, though—Chris has long since known that even if Miyuki has the shoulder of a pitcher, he has the brain of a catcher.
And just as it sometimes makes his life harder—when Miyuki doesn’t agree with a call because he’s thinking too much—other times it means he doesn’t have much to do. Miyuki’s self-awareness is a fine point, keen and sharp like the rest of him, and it means that when his pitch is even just a little off Chris doesn’t need to say a word. When he catches a bad pitch (and he always catches them), he meets Miyuki’s eyes and sees acknowledgement, understanding, expression tight behind his glasses.
Sometimes he worries that Miyuki beats himself up too much. He says as much, once, in a rare moment of verbal saliency.
Miyuki laughs, the tension in his face easing away almost immediately. "Don't worry about that, Chris-senpai, it's nothing more than what you would say. Sometimes I even hear it in your voice."
Chris can’t help but smile at that.
They’re practicing his breaking balls, getting rid of some of the energy leftover from the day’s practice match (a win, ending with a swinging strikeout).
Another moment passes, and it seems as good a moment as ever to ask: "What made you decide to play pitcher?"
Miyuki catches Chris' toss almost absent-mindedly, and his eyes go somewhere far away. "Dunno if I can say," he says. "I nearly played catcher."
"Really," he says, and it's not a question. He knew this the moment Miyuki took position on the mound and met his eyes, making the distance between the pitcher’s plate and home plate evaporate—as if sixty feet was merely a number.
"Mhmm," Miyuki says. He doesn't elaborate, merely takes position before pitching exactly what Chris has been asking for—low and away.
Control impeccable, as always.

Give me more Chris-senpai bumping his mitt against Miyuki's chest this is such a nice image A+++
THAT ASIDE. This fic demands attention, like, the words gripped me and wouldn't let go, and each time after I read a sentence I had to go back and reread it, because there's just so much packed into this. Your description of the calls and the mutual decision making was so incredibly perfect for the MiyuChris battery - so controlled and analytical, CATCHER TO CATCHER, even when it's not.
I just want to emphasise how impossible it is to rush through this fic. The way you wrote this - it's just. SO GOOD. IT NEEDS TO BE SAVOURED.
ps your descriptions of miyuki's pitches are so good i mean sure i'm here for the characters and dynamics but also I AM HERE FOR THE SPORT AND THIS IS SOME GREAT BASEBALL RIGHT IN THESE GORGEOUS LINESRe: FILL: TEAM KURAMOCHI YOUICHI/MIYUKI KAZUYA, G
and thank you for your kind words. they made me smile on what's looking to be a very rough day. <3
Re: FILL: TEAM KURAMOCHI YOUICHI/MIYUKI KAZUYA, G
(I ALSO WANT TO ADD that your word choices are fantastic, like, there are way too many examples to pick from, but you can really see you put a ton of care into the construction of your sentences. 'a rare moment of verbal saliency' and the way your words roll into one another - it makes me want to memorise this fit and let's be real I'm already halfway there tbh. This is seriously one of those fics that grows every time I read it - I CAN FEEL THE WORDS RESOUND IN MY HEART THIS IS NOT AN EXAGGERATION.)
((And I'm sorry to hear you were having a rough day!! I hope it's improved at least a little now D:))

FILL: Team MIYUKI KAZUYA/SAWAMURA EIJUN, G
Word count: 663
Kazuya had grown tired of the same old, same old routine. Easily out-playing rival teams and their genius catchers. Earning spite, fists and bruises of his team mates in return for his retaliation of the established order.
‘You're a pitcher Miyuki! Not the coach… not our catcher… you just need to learn to follow the signs.’
‘You're a nuisance. Just because your pitching wins us games, doesn't mean it's going to save you from our fists- eventually.’
‘One day you'll meet your match and it will wipe that smug look right off your face.’
Kazuya never dreaming their words would come to fruition, until he met him… a rival team’s catcher that could send him swinging for strikes and see through every planned pitching sequence in return for his team.
That day they lost- brutally. Eleven to one in what Kazuya calculated should have been a close game, but the rival catcher saw through all of his carefully thought out plans and made him pay for it when his pitching deteriorated.
“Who is that catcher from the other team?” Kazuya wondered, staring at the person in question until he motioned Kazuya over for a chat after the game.
“Takigawa Chris Yuu, but you can just call me Chris.” As the threads of fate wound together even tighter.
“Miyuki Kazuya,”stated back, like a promise to the dazzling smile of the catcher facing him.
I'll see you again, and this time I won't lose.
***
They did meet again several times until Chris graduated junior high, off to Seido high school to compete against the next level. Kazuya spending his last year perfecting his command of the strike zone with his fast balls, not wanting to let himself down when he met Chris yet again the following spring.
Kazuya late on his very first day of practice at Seido but managing, with just a little help from an old friend noticing his bobbing head beside the equipment shed, to sneak into line with the other first-years. Earning an immediate glare from Kuramochi at his left and the sure promise of a little pain later. Chris’ gaze the only one that mattered as a slow smile spread over his face.
***
Kazuya was lucky enough to make it into the first-string before the summer, but in another unlucky being paired with Miyauchi for practice. The second-year not particularly liking his brand of snark, while Kazuya fighting Miyauchi’s straight-forward calls the entire way.
He was envious of the battery pitching perfectly at his side. Chris making the best use of Tanba’s strengths to call out, “Nice ball!” repeatedly in the pen; more Chris’ calls than Tanba’s strength in Kazuya’s opinion.
Kazuya knew he was just bitter, the taste of envy stuck tightly in the back of his throat. Working even harder on perfecting his fastball, adding in a change-up at the coach’s suggestion and then putting all of his focus on pitching.
Late nights spent throwing balls into the net in the practice arena. Focused. Throwing every ball with a care as it curled away from his fingers to hurtle towards the mesh.
“You’re pitching well Miyuki. Maybe a bit too much though recently.” Chris’ voice making Kazuya jump as the catcher stepped out from the shadows of the door.
Kazuya trying to smirk at Chris’ wise words, but for once failing. Bitterness curling around his tongue at the ‘want’ to earn the ace number, to become Chris’ regular partner on the field.
“Patience Miyuki,” Chris already able to see through Kazuya’s screen of a pained expression, “With the way you’re constantly improving, you'll soon be nipping at Tanba and the other pitchers heels. Don't let it get you down. I have a feeling we’ll be a battery before you know it.”
Kazuya’s frown turning into a silent elation at Chris’ words. The catcher turning back into the darkness outside, Kazuya not missing the carrying chuckle from outside fading as Chris made his way back to the dorms.

I think it would bleed over if Kazuya was a pitcher instead too...
