Bonus Round 3: Gift Tags
This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on July 7 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.
RULES
- Submit prompts as a gift tag in the format below. You can specify the size and a characteristic of the gift, who the sender is, who the recipient is, and a one or two sentence note from the sender to the recipient. Descriptions of the package and the included note don’t have to be explicit, see below.

FILL: Team Kyoutani Kentarou/Yahaba Shigeru, G

The eggs are still there, no matter how many times Kagami checks.
They've been taken out of their basket and wrapped in swaddling cloths, probably by Kuroko, but they're still sitting right there on Kagami's desk, with Alex's hand-written note right beside them. It's still addressed to both of them—my cute and precious pupils—and Kagami doesn't know what to do with that.
Himuro hasn't spoken to him ever since Alex declared Kagami the successor to her gym, so she could focus on her research. Alex knows that. She's sent both eggs here anyway, like she's fully expecting Himuro to show up and claim his. Kagami knows better than to hold his breath, but every time he thinks too hard about it, he feels something bubble in his chest, and he isn't sure whether to call it hope or hurt.
Alex, when she was the leader of this gym, did her best to raise pokémon who would use their full potential in fights, whatever that may be. Kagami fights at full-throttle every time he's challenged. He remembers when Himuro did too, when they would fight double battles, the final stop before challengers faced Alex herself.
Through her battles, she would teach lessons about how to set the stage to allow a pokémon's abilities to shine—stat boosts, hold items, everything she's learned through her years of experience, through all the time she's dedicated in the field to doing research far beyond her expectations as a gym leader.
Together, Kagami and Himuro would show how two people with entirely different teams can make those differences combine into something stronger than they would be alone.
These days, his co-leader is Kuroko, and Kagami doesn't think he would change it for the world. Even if he did grow up believing that it would be Himuro standing beside him instead.
He looks after the eggs, because now that they're in his care, he'll see them both through to a healthy hatching. He reads up on how to tell if they're developing properly, relieved that they don't seem to be ready to hatch any time soon. His talonflame builds a nest for them, from twigs that she brings in from nearby gardens. She settles on top of both eggs, her flame body keeping them warm as the shells harden.
"They'll hatch quicker that way," Kuroko notes, his brows drawn together. "Before Himuro-kun can arrive in time."
Kagami shrugs. "I'm not waiting for him. He's not going to show, Kuroko. He's not coming back. He made that clear a long time ago."
With a sigh, Kuroko goes back to combing the excess fur out of Nigou, his mightyena. "You're both stupid."
"Your face is stupid," Kagami says, a little too loudly, just as their newest challenger walks in.
The challenge takes them through to the afternoon, followed by a quick visit by Kiyoshi, from the steel gym the next town over, to gift them with his latest harvest of berries. It's cold by the time he leaves, the sun having already set. Kagami shivers a little as he goes to lock up the front of the gym.
When he sees the froslass float past, he initially assumes that she's a recent addition to Kuroko's ghost team. He turns to call out to Kuroko, but stops short as he comes face to face with her actual owner.
Himuro looks at him, lips pulled into a smile. "Taiga."
"Tatsuya," Kagami replies. He remembers when Himuro caught the snorunt, so long ago that it feels like a dream, when they were lost in an ice cave together.
"I received a message on my PokéNav," Himuro says. With an embarrassed smile, he adds, "A few weeks ago, Alex told me to drop by your gym. She told me that she'd left an egg with you that I needed to pick up."
"Did she," Kagami replies, keeping his voice flat. "Weeks ago, huh?"
"I got another message today," Himuro admits, "I was told that I should drop by as soon as possible, because the eggs were due to hatch soon."
"From Alex?" Kagami asks, suddenly aware of Kuroko's conspicuous absence since Kiyoshi went home.
"From your co-leader," Himuro replies. "He told me he found my contact details in your PokéNav and we, I quote, are both too stubborn to pull our heads out of our asses."
"I'm going to kill—"
Kagami is interrupted by his talonflame's screech, and he knows it can only mean one thing. He grabs Himuro by the wrist without thought, pulling him along, running to the back of the gym.
"The eggs," he explains breathlessly, as they reach his talonflame's nest. She's no longer sitting on them, but watching eagerly. So are plenty of Kagami's other pokémon; they've all become invested in these eggs, over the past few weeks.
They're both cracking open, and Kagami watches as the shells break apart, revealing twin eevees, snuffling and curling towards each other for warmth.
He almost laughs. Alex always has been one to remind them of their endless potential.
"They're fond of each other," Himuro murmurs.
"They're brothers."
Himuro hesitates, glancing sideways at him. "Taiga…"
"One of them is yours," Kagami speaks up. "Are you going to take him with you? Separate them?"
With a slow exhale, Himuro shakes his head. "I suppose not. I should stay."
"Yeah." Kagami shifts a little closer, bumping their shoulders together, before he reaches into the nest and picks up one of the eevees, cradling it close to his chest as Himuro does the same with the other. "I think you should."
