Bonus Round 3: Gift Tags

Bonus Round 3: Gift Tags

Feeling generous? In this round, you get to give creative gifts as prompts.

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on July 7 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

RULES
  • Submit prompts as a gift tag in the format below. You can specify the size and a characteristic of the gift, who the sender is, who the recipient is, and a one or two sentence note from the sender to the recipient. Descriptions of the package and the included note don’t have to be explicit, see below.
    • Package: medium sized cube, rattles
      From: Kageyama Tobio
      To: Hinata Shouyou
Note: These will help you get better.
    • Envelope: manila, 12''x17'', very thick and heavy
      From: Tezuka Kunimitsu
      To: Kinjou Shingo
Note: Enclosed - Play without regrets!
  • Your prompt MUST include a relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Riko & Momoi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Riko/Momoi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either.
  • Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work. Fillers can get creative with how to interpret the prompt: your fill can be about the character receiving the gift, one or both characters using the gift, what prompted the sender to send the gift—the physical gift itself can even be excluded from your fill. What’s important is that the gift tag is clearly the inspiration for your fill.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:

First 3 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 4-10: 10 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only.

FILL: TEAM KURAMOCHI YOUICHI/MIYUKI KAZUYA, T

645 words

"Seriously?" Miyuki asks, laughing as he looks at the note on the box Kuramochi had given him a moment before. "Is this you trying to be funny?"

"Oh damn, looks like you caught me." Kuramochi laughs, leaning back on his hands, stretching his legs out before him on their apartment floor--very empty of furniture (and any organization, really) but filled with boxes. They'd taken a break from moving in and sorting everything they brought with them, and ended up just laying side by side on the floor, staring up at the ceiling--their ceiling--until Kuramochi got up with a quick murmur of "I have something for you," and went to bring Miyuki this gift.

"I feel like I'm eighteen again." Miyuki turns the little note over in his hands, the gesture a little nostalgic as he traces his finger over the words scrawled on the paper. you cook, right?

(They're the same words Kuramochi had written to accompany the gift he'd bought Miyuki on their very first anniversary, five years ago, when they were only eighteen years old. He hadn't known exactly what to get Miyuki for it, though. Miyuki has always been difficult to shop for. Not because he doesn't appreciate or like whatever Kuramochi gives him, but because Kuramochi wants to get him the perfect gift every time.

Call it habit.

But then, as he was trying to think of something Miyuki might like, Kuramochi remembered one night he'd spent in Miyuki's room, Miyuki's back pressed to Kuramochi's chest, Kuramochi's arms wrapped around his waist. Then, Miyuki mumbled a story--a piece of himself--through tired breaths and lengthening pauses as it got later and they got sleepier.

Then, he had told Kuramochi that he liked cooking. It was something Miyuki did with his mom when he was a kid, something he kept up with and continued to teach himself as he got older. Seido didn't really provide any opportunities to do this, but they were going to college soon and--

Of all the things Kuramochi could have remembered about Miyuki, of all the time they spent together, that was the memory, the bit of information that chose to stick out, so he made use of it and bought Miyuki a pan--simple, but nice--and attached his note on the box he'd wrapped.

It might not have seemed like much, but the look on Miyuki's face when he opened it said it meant something to him. And honestly, that'd been enough for Kuramochi. It's always been enough.)

"You gonna keep reliving the past or open it?" Kuramochi teases, nudging Miyuki's knee with his foot after a few moments of nostalgia-induced quiet.

"Quit rushing me. You're ruining the moment." But Miyuki smiles as he opens up the box, an echo of what Kuramochi had given him years ago.

Things are different now. They're older, for one. They've been together for a long time. And now, Kuramochi can afford a lot more than just one small piece--one small gift. Now, he can give Miyuki a whole cooking set to use in their new home.

"Youichi, thank you," Miyuki says, quiet, once he's opened the gift, once he's looking at it. "But you didn't have to get me--"

"I wanted to," Kuramochi insists, leaning forward, reaching for Miyuki's hand. Miyuki meets him somewhere in the middle, squeezes his hand gently.

"Well... wanna go use it?" Miyuki grins, standing up, pulling Kuramochi up with him.

"Huh? Aren't we supposed to be getting all of this stuff sorted out so, you know, we're not sleeping on the floor tonight surrounded by all these boxes?"

"We'll finish." Miyuki pulls Kuramochi toward the kitchen--their kitchen. "But there's no harm in taking a break to eat dinner, right?"

It does sound like a good plan.

"Yeah." He lets go of Miyuki's hand, wraps his arm around his waist instead, pulls him closer. "Yeah, let's go."
