Bonus Round 3: Gift Tags

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on July 7 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.
RULES
- Submit prompts as a gift tag in the format below. You can specify the size and a characteristic of the gift, who the sender is, who the recipient is, and a one or two sentence note from the sender to the recipient. Descriptions of the package and the included note don’t have to be explicit, see below.
- Package: medium sized cube, rattles
From: Kageyama Tobio
To: Hinata Shouyou
Note: These will help you get better. - Envelope: manila, 12''x17'', very thick and heavy
From: Tezuka Kunimitsu
To: Kinjou Shingo
Note: Enclosed - Play without regrets! - Your prompt MUST include a relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Riko & Momoi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Riko/Momoi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either.
- Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work. Fillers can get creative with how to interpret the prompt: your fill can be about the character receiving the gift, one or both characters using the gift, what prompted the sender to send the gift—the physical gift itself can even be excluded from your fill. What’s important is that the gift tag is clearly the inspiration for your fill.
- Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

FILL: TEAM GRANDSTAND, G
455 words
Kinjou was surprised when he found an oversized mail slip in his mailbox. He hadn't ordered anything, and his family normally let him know when they were sending packages. He fully expected it to be an error...until he saw the English postage and customs stamps covering the envelope.
He'd asked Makishima to send Ren's fall lookbook when it came out, but he hadn't expected it to arrive quite to quickly. He would have liked to open it then and there, but he only had a few minutes until he next class started, so he threw the heavy envelope into his bag and rushed to the lecture hall.
His lecture was immediately followed by a lab session and another lecture, but as soon as he had a break, he sat down in the student lounge and opened the book. Makishima and Ren were both on the cover, and while they were wearing some of Ren's designs, Kinjou could clearly see where Makishima had influenced them.
Before he turned to the first page, he took a minute to do the mental shift he needed to be able to follow Makishima's perspective. When Makishima had first joined the Souhoku cycling team, the biggest mistake their senpai had made had been to try to force Makishima into their sense of how things "should" be. As Kinjou had learned since, the trick wasn't to try to force Makishima into some standard, it was to shift perspectives enough to understand how Makishima's standard worked. Once he was in the right mindset, he could see why Makishima had chosen the colors he had, and why he had paired them with the patterns he did, even if they were definitely not combinations he would have chosen himself.
When he reached the end, he opened Skype, double-checking timezones before he called Makishima. Makishima answered on the first ring, wearing the same eye-watering combination that graced the first page of the book Kinjou was holding.
"Your package arrived," Kinjou said as he held it up.
"And?"
"I can definitely see your style starting to come together," Kinjou said. Then he launched into his first impressions of which outfits he thought best fit Makishima's style, and where he could see Makishima's ideas starting to sync with Ren's in their collaborations. And of course he had to mention how much he had enjoyed the dinner jacket that clearly was inspired by the Souhoku jerseys.
Whenever someone walked by and did a double-take at the physics major with the English fashion guide, he wondered how long it would take before people started making the connection between his boyfriend who was studying abroad in England and his seemingly incongruous interest in avant-garde European fashion.
Re: FILL: TEAM GRANDSTAND, G
i love that kinjou has a strategy for approaching makishima's fashion lol what a good boyfriend!! my favorite part of their relationship is that kinjou makes an effort to understand makishima and just accept him when he can't understand, so thank you for including that aspect :')
this is such a good fill, thank you!!!
Re: FILL: TEAM GRANDSTAND, G
I feel like what makes Kinjou such a good captain/friend/boyfriend is his ability to understand what matters to people/where they're coming from and to adjust his approach to meet them there. Especially for Makishima who's so used to people telling him all of the ways in which he's "wrong," Kinjou is a very good match, because Makishima wouldn't be Makishima without all of his quirks.
