Bonus Round 5: Myth & Lore

Bonus Round 5: Myth & Lore

Summer's a time for swapping stories around the campfire. With that in mind, this round draws inspiration from the stories humanity have told each other over the centuries.

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on August 4 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

RULES
  • This round does not have prompts. Instead, we ask you to draw inspiration from the wide pool of mythology, fantasy, folklore, and fable. An urban fantasy or supernatural AU? A re-imagining of your favorite folk tale? Characters swapping ghost stories or playing D&D? As long as your fill in some way incorporates the fantastical and/or supernatural, it's welcome here.
  • Your fill still has to be about a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. What ships you create work for is up to you, though.
  • To submit your fill, simply leave it as a comment as a reply to this post.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many fills as you want!

For fills:

First 3 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 4-10: 10 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21+: 2 points each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only.

FILL: Team Kyoutani Kentarou/Yahaba Shigeru, G

Akashi Seijurou/Mayuzumi Chihiro; Kuroko no Basuke

"I swear to god, Akashi, if you say a single thing about this, I will—"

"Hm," Akashi looks between Mayuzumi and the tiny puppies that are crowding around his ankles, peering up at them both. "Congratulations on your litter."

"Ugh," Mayuzumi says with disgust, even as he bends to pick up the puppies in his arms, carrying them further into the apartment. "Help me find somewhere comfortable to put them."

Akashi does, grabbing a fluffy towel and placing it into a basket so that Mayuzumi can put the puppies down into it.

"Should I be concerned by the fact that you appear to have stolen an entire litter of puppies?" Akashi asks mildly, watching as Mayuzumi crouches over them and lets them nibble on his fingers.

"I didn't steal them," Mayuzumi replies. "They were all abandoned in a park in a box, and I was going to get someone to help them, but they ended up following me."

"Maybe because they could tell you're a werewolf," Akashi hums. "They might have smelled it on you."

"They're puppies," Mayuzumi dismisses, shaking his head. "They wouldn't be able to tell."

"Don't underestimate children, Chihiro."

"They're puppies." Mayuzumi repeats. "They're dogs."

"So they can recognise other dogs by smell."

"I'm not a dog," Mayuzumi growls out—and it's an actual growl. Akashi blinks in surprise, and doesn't bother holding back his small, amused smile.

"Whatever," Mayuzumi mutters. "Anyway, I'm going to call the local animal shelter and see if I can drop them off sometime soon, so they won't have to bother you for long."

"If you say so," Akashi murmurs. "They aren't a bother at all."

Akashi isn't surprised when, the next day, the puppies are still there.

"I haven't had the time to take them," Mayuzumi mutters, when Akashi questions him about it. "If you want to get rid of them so badly, you can take them."

"I didn't say that," Akashi says, and watches the way Mayuzumi carefully measures out food for each of the puppies, making sure that they all eat their own, instead of stealing from each other.

By the end of the week, they're still there. Akashi doesn't even say anything about it this time, but Mayuzumi freezes up guiltily, in the middle of playing with them, as Akashi walks past.

Half a month later, and it's a full moon night. Mayuzumi holds his arm out, letting Akashi inject him with the drug that lets him hold onto his senses after the transformation.

Later that night, when Mayuzumi is curled up in their room in his wolf form, Akashi opens the doors, smiling as the puppies scamper inside, climbing all over Mayuzumi, licking him and cuddling against him, their tails wagging.

"Your kids missed you," Akashi smiles, and Mayuzumi huffs at him with irritation, but curls up with the puppies all the same.

Akashi walks into the room too, sitting on the floor beside Mayuzumi, and smiles when he feels the weight of a wolf head resting on top of his leg.
