Bonus Round 1: AUs

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).
Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)
RULES
- Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. There's a comment template below for your convenience.
- Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Izumi & Sakaeguchi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Izumi/Sakaeguchi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
- An AU can be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [character] was the Team Captain instead of the canon captain character?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g., pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
- Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
- Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

In another world, Arakita doesn't blow out his elbow pitching. He keeps playing, game after game until he gathers enough notice that there are schools fighting to recruit him. One after another, they come. Inashiro, Seidou, Ugumori, even as far as Osaka, they come to recruit him.
In another world, he chooses Seidou, and finds himself as part of a motley group of first years. There’s a tiny boy with pink hair who can barely fit into his uniform, a pitcher who seems uncertain even of his own shadow, a loud, brash boy who thinks he can be a pitcher, batters who can barely tell the right end of the bat from the other. Arakita isn’t impressed by any of it, and the only one who’s even remotely anywhere near decent is the catcher.
This world, he sweats and he bleeds for baseball, for a chance to prove himself something more, for a chance to be part of the first string. It’s not difficult, when the pitchers are few and far between, and even fewer at the calibre he prides himself at being. His foul mouth earns him few friends, though he and Ryousuke have an understanding and a friendship of sorts. Ryousuke’s far subtler in his digs, whereas Arakita is brutally honest and unflinchingly blunt. Between them, they manage to offend nearly the entire team and they make it into a competition of sorts. The friends he has learn to accept baka as a term of endearment and fucker as a compliment, though Arakita tries to deny it vehemently.
In another world, he meets Miyuki Kazuya when he joins the first string in place of Chris, who has blown out his shoulder from too much pressure. Miyuki is the only one who laughs when he swears at Miyuki, arching an eyebrow and grinning in challenge and Arakita desperately wants to punch him in his pretty boy face, glasses and all. Unfortunately, Miyuki is across the diamond and very well protected by his gear, so Arakita channels his anger into throwing pitches as hard as he can, relishing the smack of the baseball hitting the glove.
In another world, he forms a battery with Miyuki Kazuya, who is so much an asshole Arakita is constantly torn between punching him and reminding himself the team needs a catcher, that if they want to go to Koushien he is not allowed to punch Miyuki’s pretty face in, and instead pretends the balls he’s pitching fly into Miyuki’s face. That somehow a partnership becomes and friendship and maybe something more, simmering underneath all the insults Arakita throws at Miyuki with his pitches, grumbling about idiots with glasses looking for trouble.
In another world, he goes to Koushien instead of Interhigh, where he pitches from the mound after three years of blood, tears and sweat, where he looks up to meet Miyuki’s gaze as he winds up to throw another fastball and he can see Miyuki’s smile even behind his helmet, one that tells him give me your best shot.

I also really appreciate the "in another world..." device, it frames your prose cleanly, like a thread pulling me through the what-if and never letting me forget that it is, in the end, just a what-if. One world over from the true reality.
Thank you for writing and sharing this! ♥
