Bonus Round 1: AUs

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).


This popular round is back once again! To begin this year's SASO, we encourage you to let your mind run wild with alternate ideas and settings.


Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES

• Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. There's a comment template below for your convenience.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Izumi & Sakaeguchi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Izumi/Sakaeguchi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
• An AU can be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [character] was the Team Captain instead of the canon captain character?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g., pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
• Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
• Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

SCORING

These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

His brother has always been a stranger to him but he comes back to Japan even stranger still. He doesn’t eat when anyone is looking, taking bowls of food up to his room and washing them late in the night so the family comes down to gleaming clean bowls drying in the dish rack. He washes too often and for too long but he only ever uses cold water. He goes out running but his clothes never smell of sweat when he comes back. He doesn’t like salt in his food anymore.


His brother has always been quiet but he comes back to Japan effectively mute. He doesn’t speak to Riku, even when Riku asks him a direct question. He tilts his head and listens. He shrugs, he shakes his head but he doesn’t speak. He watches Riku instead, black eyes trained on him unflinchingly as if he’s the goal at the end of a Stride match.

It creeps Riku enough that he stops sleeping at home. Takeru takes him in, lets Riku sleep on his sofa and then in his bed. Takeru doesn’t talk much either but he does talk and when he listens, it’s distracted and human. Tomoe listens like a black hole, like he’s eating Riku’s words, like every word Riku speaks is being stripped from his head and he’ll never be able to say it again.

Takeru is reassuringly flawed and awkward. He has no sense of personal space. He’ll wake Riku up in the middle of the night and inform him point blank that he wants to fuck but not too hard because it made him feel weird running the morning after last time.

He stays with Takeru until he hears that his parents have died and then he has to go home for the funeral. He has to stand besides Tomoe at the gravesite. Horror holds him too tightly to let him cry.

Tomoe doesn’t cry either.

After the funeral, a lawyer approaches Riku to say that Tomoe is Riku’s legal guardian and he wants Riku to come home. He’s sold the house and rented them an apartment, one close to Kakyoin High where Riku will be transferred to next semester. There are two bedrooms and Riku can have his new friends over whenever he likes.

Riku never invites anyone over.

Eventually, he breaks up with Takeru.

Tomoe sold his soul for the sake of Stride but full possession of his brother is a nice bonus.

Tomoe listens like a black hole, like he’s eating Riku’s words, like every word Riku speaks is being stripped from his head and he’ll never be able to say it again.

This fill as a whole captured the whole creepy angle very well, but that is by far the most unsettling line in my opinion. I want to yell at Takeru to come get his friend back, but at the same time, there's the sense that Tomoe is deliberately stealing words/thoughts/memories with an end goal of wiping all traces of Riku from everyone else's minds (so that there's no one to remember or interfere)

And THIS is why I had to check with you how you feel about incest when writing this. Because it definitely has some super creepy vibes in how Tomoe interacts with Riku and I figure if you sell your SOUL you don't have any morals left to control how you treat your brother.

aka killing your parents to get guardianship of him is totally fine! and making him break up with his boyfriend!

EVERYThING GOES TO HELL (especially Tomoe but he'll take Riku with him because this is his prize too).
