Bonus Round 1: AUs

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).


This popular round is back once again! To begin this year's SASO, we encourage you to let your mind run wild with alternate ideas and settings.


Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES

• Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. There's a comment template below for your convenience.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Izumi & Sakaeguchi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Izumi/Sakaeguchi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
• An AU can be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [character] was the Team Captain instead of the canon captain character?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g., pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
• Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
• Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

• 14 lines (poetry)

SCORING

These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

In a far away kingdom, there lived a king who had at a young age taken off to see the world, married a commoner and then come back with a son.

The people had not been impressed. The courtiers had been even less impressed.

However, rather than scold their wayward ruler and possibly make him leave again, they held their tongues and hoped that the boy would turn out better than his father had.

Much to their disappointment, Ryoma had one interest in life and one interest alone: tennis.

In vain his advisor, Tezuka, told him to keep his guard up! Ryoma would go to the tennis court so early that even his personal guards, Taka and Momo, weren’t awake yet to protect him.

The fact that the only attempts to assassinate him had been stymied when Ryoma smashed tennis balls into their faces meant that Tezuka couldn’t even protest too much.

Fuji handled the diplomatic dealings of the kingdom with a deft touch, making up for the lack of attention from Ryoma and his father, but there were some things that he absolutely could not do for Ryoma – like get married.

When he finally arranged for Princess Sakuno from a neighboring kingdom to be Ryoma’s bride, the whole court was on tenterhooks to see what the stubborn prince could say.

“Your Highness,” Fuji said as he presented Ryoma with a sheaf of documents to read, knowing even as he did so that Ryoma would only glance at them, “I have good news. I have arranged a match for you with Princess Sakuno of the Ryuuzaki kingdom. She’ll be arriving at noon.”

“Princess Sakuno?” Ryoma said, leafing through the papers too quickly to have possibly read them. “Okay. Tell her that I’ll be at the tennis court when she arrives.”

“You really should greet her yourself,” Fuji said mildly, unwilling to push too much when Ryoma had taken the news of the engagement so calmly.

Ryoma shrugged, pushed the papers back at Fuji and left. There was a perfectly up-kept grass tennis court waiting for him. As always, Momo and Taka hurried after him.

Fuji sighed but consoled himself with the thought that maybe Ryoma would grow up a little once he was married.

When the princess arrived at the tennis court, clad in a beautiful gown of pink and white silk, Ryoma gave her an unimpressed look.

“Where’s your racket?”

“Racket?” Sakuno repeated, taking in the sight of her husband-to-be.

“Yes. You’ve come for a match, haven’t you?”

As understanding dawned on the court, not a soul dared to look at Fuji.

YEAH! THAT IS A VITAL DETAIL. IT'S WHY POOR RYOMA GOT THE IMPRESSION THAT SAKUNO IS HERE FOR A TENNIS MATCH.

Also poor Fuji, he really needs to watch his words. This is exactly why nobody dared to look at him because this misunderstanding is ALL HIS FAULT and now he's probably going to have Horio impersonate Ryoma at the altar.
