Bonus Round 1: AUs

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).


This popular round is back once again! To begin this year's SASO, we encourage you to let your mind run wild with alternate ideas and settings.


Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES

• Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. There's a comment template below for your convenience.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Izumi & Sakaeguchi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Izumi/Sakaeguchi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
• An AU can be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [character] was the Team Captain instead of the canon captain character?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g., pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
• Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
• Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

SCORING

These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Karupin lounged lazily on the bench, cap tilted over his head. The sunshine fell over him and Karupin basked with his eyes shut, not even bothering to make a pretense of watching practice.

“O-chibi!” Eiji called out. Since Eiji was his favorite teammate, Karupin opened his eyes lazily, the vivid blue of them bright with interest. He turned his head just enough to look at Eiji who was approaching with a little black kitten in his arms.

“Your cat was on the court again, o-chibi.” Eiji set the kitten down on Karupin’s stomach and Ryoma promptly strutted up to bat at Karupin’s nose, peering at him before he turned and leapt off the bench, heading back towards the courts.

“You should put a leash on him and tie him to the bench. He’s going to get hurt one day if someone steps on him or he gets hit by a ball,” Eiji sighed, watching the little black tail wave in the air as Ryoma sauntered down the courts as if he owned them. Ryoma found a stray tennis ball that nobody was using and crouched down over his forepaws, hind quarters wagging madly in the air. He drew himself together and then POUNCED!

He hit the ball, rolled it, bounced back to his feet and then attacked again! No tennis ball would get the better of him.

“He can take care of himself.” Karupin watched with an amused smile, letting his eyes fall half-shut again.

“Still, you should be more careful,” Eiji protested. He poked Karupin’s stomach lightly, making Karupin stretch and arch, lean muscles rippling under the loose tennis uniform. “And you should practice more!”

“Later,” Karupin promised, unwilling to stop his comfortable lounging. “It’s not like I need much practice anyway.”

His tennis was purely reflexive, Karupin practically supernatural in his speed and ability to reach for balls. Even his agility was as good as Eiji’s though he lacked his friend’s ability to play doubles.

“You’re so lazy, o-chibi,” Eiji chided. “Look at Ryoma running around! You should be more like him!”

Karupin slanted his gaze over to where Horio was throwing tennis balls for Ryoma to hunt-stalk and attack.

“You mean I should fall over tennis balls instead of hitting them? I’ll keep that in mind.”

Just then, Ryoma bunched himself, leapt and managed to grab a tennis ball out of midair. His little body curled around it but the speed of the tennis ball meant that instead of falling, it continued traveling onwards with Ryoma wrapped around it.

“RYOMA!” Karupin yelled. Before Eiji could even think of moving, Karupin was on the court and had caught Ryoma seconds before Taka dropped his racket to try to catch Ryoma instead.

Karupin stalked off the court, muttering low scolding complaints to Ryoma.

Eiji exhaled, watching them go. Karupin might be his best friend after Oishi but sometimes, the super rookie was just weird.

And his cat was weirder still!

LOL! I love how he's best friends with the other cat on the team!! And Ryoma being a tennis maniac even as a cat is so perfect for him.

Honestly, when I read this prompt (after the moment of WTF), I was all, "...Ryoma's favorite cat toy is a tennis ball and he's a nuisance on the court." And Eiji is totally the logical friend for human!Karupin, the latest and most naturally talented tennis player.

OH. KAIDOH REALLY LIKES KARUPIN. IMAGINE THEM DATING. And Ryoma supervising by riding on Kaidoh's shoulder.
