Bonus Round 1: AUs
SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).
Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)
RULES
- Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. There's a comment template below for your convenience.
- Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Izumi & Sakaeguchi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Izumi/Sakaeguchi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
- An AU can be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [character] was the Team Captain instead of the canon captain character?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g., pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
- Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
- Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

Miyahara first noticed something was wrong when she found a pastel pink post-it note on her locker. The inside of her locker.
She had inherited a sizeable intelligence network from Izumida-senpai when it was decided – not without heated internal debate – that Manami Sangaku would serve as the team's new captain. Obviously, that wasn't a responsibility suited to Sangaku's talents, but appearances were important. Sangaku's captaincy sent a message to Sohoku and other cycling teams throughout the country. So what if someone else was handling the attendance roster?
Anyway, it turned out that most of a captain's administrative duties were trivially simple next to Miyahara's AP classes, so it didn't end up being as much work as she feared. And Hakone Gakuen's reputation was such that its spy network almost ran itself -- there was no shortage of enthusiastic lower classmen eager to get out and do some scouting. All of this meant that Miyahara should have seen this coming. Who could miss a Sohoku cycling team member simply meandering into the club room and leaving a note like this?
"Um, I didn't see anyone, capta—manager," mumbled a first year, rubbing the back of his neck as he gazed deferentially at the ground. It was the same no matter whom she talked to. Nothing unusual, no unfamiliar boys going in or out of the cycling facilities, not even the school custodian. "Do you think one of the junior managers might've left it...?"
That was right out of the question. Miyahara had handpicked this year's managers, weeding out the good-for-nothing fangirls and delinquents who were looking for easy curricular credit, leaving only a pair of dedicated second-year girls (and one starry-eyed first-year boy) for her to delegate most tasks. She trusted them implicitly.
She questioned them anyway. All it did was waste an afternoon and make the first-year manager start to cry.
The content of the post-it note read thus: Looking forward 2 I-H!! Come find me in the pink polo and sun visor, we have so much 2 talk about! <3
Was it a threat? A coded message? A challenge?? A pink polo shirt – could it be Sohoku's retired captain, Kinjou Shingo?! Miyahara crumpled the note in her tiny fist at the thought. Two years out of high school, and still meddling in his own team's affairs! She'd give him a good dressing-down that summer.
But, Miyahara's Chiba scout insisted, Kinjou hadn't been visiting his old high school team at all. Nor was there any evidence he had taken any recent trips to Kanagawa, and Miyahara was sure her Yonan contact would notify her if he had. Anyway, there was no way Hakogaku's third years wouldn't have recognized him. Unless he'd grown his hair out??
"Wow," Sangaku said that evening, when she had cornered him long enough to review the club requisitions form and new fundraising charter. "You look like you've sprouted five new gray hairs just since this morning, Iinchou."
"We've been infiltrated!" Miyahara cried, resisting the urge to raise both hands to try smoothing back her hair. It always got messy after practice, and all she had done was a little light jogging going from building to building. "Why won't you take this seriously? You're the captain of record, Sangaku!"
"Mm, are you sure it wasn't just a love letter or something? Toudou-san used to get them all the time..."
"D-d-d-d-don't be ridiculous!"
The mystery went unsolved, and as the team's Inter-High placement trials were starting in less than two weeks, Miyahara soon forgot about it entirely.
Until that August.
"Hi!" The girl was waving, shielding her eyes with her free hand, as though the white sun visor were not doing its job adequately. Her skirt was... worryingly short, and her polo shirt was very, very pink. "Excuse me, but you're Miyahara-san, right?"
Unused to being addressed by name outside of the classroom, Miyahara paused and started to turn. After three years of Inter-Highs, her eyes went straight toward the badge lanyard hanging around the girl's neck.
She dropped her clipboard.
"S-SOHOKU'S—"
The girl in the pink polo shirt knelt down neatly and popped up again, offering the clipboard back to her. "It's nice to finally meet you! Now that I think of it, I think I saw you here last year too. So you worked your way up from team manager too?"
"'Too'--?!" Miyahara took a deep breath to steady herself and swallowed. She adjusted her glasses. Then she adjusted them again. Looking down was no go, the pink polo shirt girl's legs were very – very good legs, but looking in her eyes was no good either. Miyahara could already feel the blush spreading over her cheeks. "I'm sorry, but you are...?"
"Oh! I'm sorry. I'm Kanzaki Miki, captain for Sohoku."
"Wh—'Captain'?"
"Ahehe," Kanzaki giggled faux-sheepishly, joining her hands behind her back and rocking back and forth on her sneakers. "It couldn't be helped, none of the racers in my year are very good at paperwork, so when our senpai retired the outgoing captain put in a good word for me with our school's faculty..."
"That was an option?!"
"Hm?"
"I mean—" Miyahara steeled herself, smoothing the wrinkles from the front of her shirt. Kanzaki-san looked... n-nice... but Sohoku was still Hakogaku's main rival! Miyahara was duty-bound to appear composed in front of her. "I'm surprised Sohoku is so permissive! Ha-Hakone Gakuen would never..."
"Oh? That's not what I've heard." Kanzaki Miki shifted her weight on her feet, perfect bronze thigh catching the morning sunlight in an extremely unfair way. "I read in Cycling Weekly that Hakogaku raised more than a million yen during their spring funding drive this year, a two hundred forty-eight percent increase over last year. I just had to see who was heading up the club after Izumida-san! So I did some asking around on a few cycling forums, and someone said that a girl was actually captaining Hakogaku this year, and that she was really cute! So I researched a little more and decided to visit your campus to see you in person, but I think you were out that day..."
"Wait..."
"Um, I know what you're about to say, but I'm not a detective. I don't know why I get that all the time."
"That's not—! —G-go back to the part where you said I was—"
This was going to be a very stressful Inter-High, wasn't it.
