Bonus Round 1: AUs

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).
Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)
RULES
- Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. There's a comment template below for your convenience.
- Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Izumi & Sakaeguchi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Izumi/Sakaeguchi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
- An AU can be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [character] was the Team Captain instead of the canon captain character?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g., pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
- Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
- Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

I chose to take the Atobe/Jirou route.
***
"Kabaji, check on the sentries," Atobe ordered. "Make sure there are no gaps in our defenses this time."
"Yes," his bodyguard replied.
Atobe waited until the tent was empty before he sank back into the cushions, fatigue creasing his face with lines that had not been there mere minutes before.
It was a face he would never show to his enemies, nor even to his general, but he was weary. The tensions between the warlords that had been simmering for years had finally erupted into an all-out war that was nearing the end of its fifth month. Atobe had been on the front lines the entire time.
He was weary, but the fighting did not stop for the weariness of one man, even a man so important as he. He may not have been a great daimyo or high-ranking nobility, but he was an onmyouji, and the shikigami he controlled made him worth noting, especially during the war.
Sighing, he summoned one of his favorite shikigami, who barely spared him a glance before curling up by his feet and appearing to fall asleep. Atobe ran a hand through the kitsune's thick fur and smiled. Jirou wasn't his first kitsune, nor was he the most powerful, but he was the one Atobe always turned to for companionship. Controlling any shikigami required a certain degree of strength, and weary as he was, Atobe didn't trust himself with the battle of wits and wills that always followed when he summoned Oshitari. Nor was he in the mood for the pranks and playful teasing that always followed Mukahi. Nor even the needle-like focus of Ohtori, who would inevitably stare silently in judgment until Atobe returned to working on tasks related to the war.
No, at the end of a long day at the end of a long month in the middle of a seemingly endless war, Atobe didn't want any of those things. He wanted to step back for an evening and forget that war raged around him.
And so he had summoned his favorite shikigami. It was easy to be fooled by Jirou's appearance. He never overtly fought for dominance the way some shikigami did, and it was easy to be pulled in by his constant sleepy appearance and frequent napping, but Atobe knew there was far more than that lurking below the surface. When presented with a true challenge or strong opponent, Jirou would go from apparent sleep to full alertness in the span of a second. He may have loved the simple things, but there was nothing simple about him.
"Would the master like anything?" Jirou mumbled into Atobe's hand.
"No," Atobe replied. "Other than to sit with me for awhile."
Jirou curled up closer to Atobe's side; his thick fur pressing right up to the onmyouji's thick robes. "Yes, Master."
He seemed to fall asleep again, but when Atobe murmured softly, "tomorrow will be interesting," he found himself suddenly looking down into a pair of eyes the color of molten gold.
"We like interesting," the kitsune said. "We will stay."
When Kabaji returned from his rounds a candlemark later, he found his master and his master's shikigami both asleep on the floor. He quietly extinguished the candles burning on Atobe's desk, pulled a blanket over them both, and took up his place guarding the entrance to the onmyouji's tent.
