Bonus Round 1: AUs

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).
Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)
RULES
- Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. There's a comment template below for your convenience.
- Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Izumi & Sakaeguchi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Izumi/Sakaeguchi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
- An AU can be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [character] was the Team Captain instead of the canon captain character?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g., pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
- Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
- Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

“Hey, Kageyama?” Hinata says, walking his bike alongside them. It’s mid-afternoon after a long practice, and Kageyama can feel the burn of hard work in his legs as they walk. “Can I ask you a question?”
Kageyama groans, because he knows what kind of question is coming. It’s been a week since he accidentally told Hinata about the whole mind-reading thing and it’s all Hinata can talk about when they’re alone. “What?” he asks anyway.
“When you read people’s minds, do you see, like, all their thoughts? Or just what they’re thinking at the moment?”
“Why do you want to know?”
“I’m curious!”
“Fine,” Kageyama says. “Just current thoughts. That’s all I can hear.”
“Oh, cool!” says Hinata. “If you, you know, ‘listen’ really hard, can you hear more? Or is it always just that?”
“It’s not about listening. I already told you—I hear people’s thoughts whether I want to or not. It’s… annoying.”
Hinata waves his arms. “I know, I know! But if you concentrated, would you be able to hear more?”
“...Why would I want to hear more?”
“I dunno! What if we were playing a really good volleyball team, and you wanted to know their hand signals or something, but they weren’t thinking about them at that second?”
Hm. Hinata actually has a point. “I’m… not sure,” he says. “I’ve never tried it.”
“You’ve never tried it?” Hinata asks. He pulls an expression that Kageyama can’t quite interpret, and Kageyama scowls.
“What are you thinking?” Kageyama asks.
“Hm?”
“I asked what you’re thinking.”
“Oh, right!” Hinata says, then grins. “You can’t read my mind!”
Kageyama isn’t sure how to respond. He thinks Hinata might be teasing him, but he’s not certain enough to accuse him of it. “Just… answer the question.”
“Okay, okay! I was thinking—wow! If I could hear people’s brains, I’d want to try everything, you know?”
“Oh,” Kageyama says. That wasn’t the answer he was expecting. Hinata’s looking at him again now, smiling with stars in his eyes, and it makes Kageyama swallow involuntarily. “And what are you thinking now?”
“Just that you’re really cool,” he says.
“Don’t… don’t say stuff like that,” Kageyama says. He isn’t blushing. He’s definitely not blushing.
“Why not? You asked!” Hinata protests. “You asked what I was thinking, so I told you!”
“Just… ask me something else,” Kageyama says. He rubs the back of his head. Sure, hanging out with Hinata doesn’t give him a headache for once, but he’s not sure this weird embarrassment he keeps feeling is much better.
“Okay, okay. Fine,” says Hinata. He’s quiet for a moment, and then he points to an older woman sitting at a bus stop a little ways across the street. “What’s she thinking about?”
“Um,” Kageyama pauses. The distance makes her mind-noise a little faint, but he can definitely make out what sounds like a shopping list echoing from her direction. “I think she’s figuring out what she’s going to buy from the store.”
“Really?” Hinata says. His shoulders slump a little. “That’s all?”
“...Yes?”
Hinata huffs. “That’s boring.”
“Sorry….” Kageyama says. He suddenly feels put on the spot, like it’s his job to keep Hinata interested. Which is stupid, because why should he care if Hinata’s interested? Why should that matter to him? “Uh… You know… Tsukishima thought you had a good serve today. But he didn’t say so because he didn’t want you to know he was impressed.”
Hinata whips his head around. He looks a little bit like a kid who’s birthday just came early. “Really?” he says, his eyes shining. “Wahh!!! Tsukishima thought that? I must really be getting better! Maybe I’ll be doing jump serves like you soon, Kageyama!”
Kageyama should say something to that, should say something like, “yeah right”, or “you wish”, but instead he just feels… warm. It’s a lot, being the recipient of a smile as bright as Hinata’s. It’s infectious. Before he can fully realize what he’s doing, he’s smiling back.
“Yeah,” he says. “Maybe you will.”
And he doesn’t need to read minds to tell how pleased Hinata is after that.
