Bonus Round 2: Tic-Tac-Toe

Tic-Tac-Toe

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

Get three in a row! That's the goal of this bonus round. Inspired by a fanwork event type called kink bingo, this round encourages you to create and fill out themed prompt cards.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. There's a lot of text here, but if you read carefully and follow the instructions step by step, you will be okay.

RULES
Please refer to the first comment thread of this post for an example of how this round works.

PROMPTING

  1. Select a ship to create your prompt card about. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Haruki & Kazuma). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Haruki/Kazuma). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!

  2. Visit this card generator.
    • Here is a visual guide to using it.
    • The large text box is where you can list prompts if you have your own ideas. Please list at least 9 prompts; you can list more if you want. (The generator says you need at least 24, but it's lying.) Single words or short phrases are better than sentences.
    • Otherwise, you can use the dropdown menu found right below it. Note: some of these prompts lists are NSFW. (NSFW prompts are a-ok as long as you tag for it.) If you don't like some of the options that appear in a prompt list, you can delete them.
    • Text prompts only, please. Also, each card square must be unique—don't list the same prompt 9 times.
    • In "Configuration Options," make sure you select 3x3 and (Normal prompt). This is the most important step!
    • Leave the tic-tac-toe card with its default colors, so everyone can read it clearly.
    • Click the "Create a bingo card" button.
    • Scroll down to see the card that was created for you. If you don't like the prompts it picked, you can reroll by clicking "Create a bingo card" again.
    • When you're satisfied, scroll further down the page until you see a textarea box full of HTML.
  3. Copy and paste the HTML from the box and into the body of your prompt comment, then post!

FILLING

Fill prompts by selecting an individual square to create fanwork for, then leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work. (Optional:) If you can fill three squares from a prompt in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line, you get a tic-tac-toe (and an additional point bonus)! You can also just fill prompts as you please and get standard points.
  • Prompt squares are labeled as follows:
    A1 B1 C1
    A2 B2 C2
    A3 B3 C3
  • If you're trying for tic-tac-toe, you cannot combine squares into one fill. If your fill can satisfy multiple squares, pick the most relevant square: e.g., one square is sailing and another is pirates and you make a fill about pirates sailing, it's mostly pirates so put down the pirates square.
  • Each fill must stand alone as an individual piece, but all your fills can slot into a larger universe if you'd like.
  • You cannot fill a prompt square more than once, but you can fill every square on a tic tac toe card if you want to.
  • You cannot work with your teammates to get a tic-tac-toe. Only individually achieved tic-tac-toes get the bonus.
  • Multiple people can fill the same prompt square. You cannot "block" others from getting tic-tac-toe.
  • Remember to also follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
  • Here is a prompt/fill index for your convenience.

Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each
Tic-tac-toe Bonus: 2 points each for the first 12 achieved by your team

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only (see the line of links below this post).

i hecking love aladdin and this got Out Of Control(TM) but i totally wanted to do the whole movie as an au for them but managed to exert some small level of control and stop myself from going that far haha also, pls consider jun as genie bc i've been laughing ever since i thought of that idea

***

kuramochi feels like he's always been running. from his past. from the law.

on point one: he doesn't know much about where he came from or how he's gotten here besides that he doesn't have parents. he never knew his father, and his mother died years ago, leaving him alone and to fend for himself.

which, he's gotten pretty good at, by the way. he may have to steal food to survive another day, but he can outsmart (and outrun) every guard sent after him, so let's call him adept at survival and life on the streets.

he may be good at living this life, but that's never changed that he's wanted to escape everything he is, the life he's trapped in. he wants more, has always wanted more. friends. a real home. something better than the little bit he's got.

once, but just once, he thought maybe, maybe he could have that.

it's the only time he hasn't felt like he was running from something, and hilariously enough, he'd been physically running that time.

except someone's hand had been in his. kazuya's hand--

("you don't look like you've been here before," kuramochi finally says, laughing a little as he and kazuya sit down together. they'd met in the marketplace earlier that day, escaped together after they'd been caught stealing. they stuck together after that, and kuramochi brought kazuya to what he calls home every night.

"oh? i wasn't aware you had to have a certain look to fit in here."

"nah, you don't. i just mean you must be new here. i'm sure i'd recognize you otherwise."

"maybe i've been right under your nose the whole time," kazuya mutters, looking away from the palace--beautiful, completely visible from kuramochi's makeshift bedroom window. "and you never were looking."

"it's a small world down here." same old, same old every single day. "i'm sure we would have crossed paths at least once by now."

kazuya laughs a little at his lap, before he looks at kuramochi again. "maybe you're right. i'm sure i'd recognize an ugly face like yours. how would i forget?"

"hey!" kuramochi nudges his shoulder. "this ugly face saved your ass from getting arrested down at the marketplace earlier. you should be thanking me! or do you have such a twisted personality that you'd take my help and hospitality without even considering a thank you."

he shrugs. "i'll be out of your hair soon enough, so don't worry about having to deal with that."

he wonders where kazuya will go.

"nah, don't worry about it. the company's nice. i'm usually alone."

wonders if they can go there together.

eijun makes an offended screech from somewhere next to him, and kuramochi shoves him away. kazuya laughs at the exchange before him.

"where are you from?" kuramochi finally asks.

"doesn't matter." kazuya shrugs. "i ran away and i'm not going back."

kuramochi sighs. he wishes he could do that too. escape here. escape this life. go anywhere else. see the whole world beyond this tiny little piece of it he's grown accustomed to.

he turns, looking out the window at the palace behind them. "what d'you think it's like there?" he nudges kazuya's shoulder. "must be nice. nothing to worry about."

"i don't think it's so simple."

kuramochi shrugs. maybe it's not, but it has to be better than here. a huge upgrade from where he's at now. "i wouldn't mind finding out. it's gotta be better than this."

"yeah, if you want to have people telling you what to do and how to act. if you don't want a choice in anything you do and you feel--"

"... trapped," kuramochi finishes, slowly.

"trapped..." kazuya repeats, trailing off. they look at each other for a moment, smile. maybe, they don't have to feel that way at all. maybe--

"there!" a guard shouts, interrupting the moment between them as he storms inside, followed by others.

they jump up at the same time, ready to move immediately. except... except there's nowhere to go. unless....

"do you trust me?" kuramochi asks, hurried, as he jumps up onto the windowsill, sticks out a hand for kazuya to take if he chooses to. not like--

"not like i have much of a choice." but despite the words, kazuya's grin is wicked, like he's unafraid of being caught, of what they're running from. it's got to be the best look kuramochi's ever seen on anyone. he might be a little smitten, but that's a story for another day.

kazuya takes his hand and they jump.)

--

maybe it could have been more than just that... if they hadn't gotten caught, if kazuya wasn't out of kuramochi's league a million times over. if there wasn't such a strong line between the lives they lead.

it could never work out. not in the way they are. not when he finds out after they get caught that kazuya's a prince--royalty, someone kuramochi's not allowed to touch, let alone hope to be by his side.

kazuya never even gets kuramochi's name before they're separated. they don't even deserve that simple thing in their current states of being, apparently.

so kuramochi fixes that. uses a wish from the genie of the lamp he'd found in that cave he'd been sent to--tricked into going to.

he makes himself a prince. hopes that it will be enough to narrow the gap between them. to allow them to meet once again and not immediately have it end in disaster.

except... it doesn't work like he'd thought.

and now kuramochi's running from the truth, too. standing before kazuya who wants nothing to do with him as he is now. trying to make something work.

but kazuya doesn't forget their encounter--that meeting that brought them together--so easily, it seems. because after they bicker a bit and kuramochi makes a fool of himself nervously following jun's advice as he buzzes in his ear, something seems to click.

kazuya looks at him like he recognizes him.

"do i know you from somewhere?"

shit. kuramochi scrambles for an answer despite the panic at being found out that overtakes all of his thoughts. "no!" then, calmer, slower. "i mean, why would you?"

kazuya's silent for a moment, watching him curiously, carefully. and for a moment, kuramochi thinks it's all over. he learned in their initial meeting that kazuya's smart. really smart. if anyone would piece together the truth it'd be--

"you're right. i'm sure i'd remember an ugly face like yours."

"and i'd remember an ugly personality like yours, too," kuramochi fires back, immediately regretting it because 1) if this is his way of trying to get kazuya to trust him, he probably won't get very far with insults and 2) kazuya might actually piece things together this time if they fall back so easily into how they'd spoken to each other that day they'd first met.

kazuya's silent for a moment, looking kuramochi over quickly, but then looks away. like he's remembering something. like he's hoping for something.

"you're staring at me," kuramochi finally says.

"you..." kazuya shakes his head. "never mind. there's no way..."

and kuramochi wishes he could give him what he's looking for--the truth--but right now he doesn't know if he can do that. not when he doesn't know what kind of outcome to expect.

kazuya starts again, recovering from the slip from before. "you're the only one of any suitors who's said something like that to my face... it's usually just rumors or complaints to my father where they say things like that."

"maybe they should be more honest." that's rich, coming from kuramochi because he's living an elaborate lie and running from the truth at this very moment.

"what? like you?"

"sure." he grins, more easily now, as he brushes off the unsettled feeling lying so much gives him. "i can be honest."

he snorts, like he can't believe that. "you're just like the rest of them. here for the same thing."

kazuya doesn't seem amused. or interested at all, really. after all this, he wants nothing to do with kuramochi. and that's not surprising at all--kuramochi'd listened to him say down in the marketplace that he felt trapped, forced into something he doesn't want. he should've known better than to go about anything this way. but at the moment it felt like the only way when the law and their completely different lifestyles would never allow them anything more than the brief chance meeting they'd gotten.

"i'm not stupid," kazuya continues, an answer to kuramochi's silence. "so don't come in here and act like you're any different. i won't marry you or any of the other idiots who've tried, so goodnight, prince kuramochi. i don't know how you got up here, but don't trip over the balcony on your way out."

kazuya turns away. so that's that...

"you're right," kuramochi finally mutters, turning away, ready to run rather than look at kazuya's back as he walks inside again. another failure. another set of mistakes. what was he thinking ever trying this in the first place? "it's no one's choice but your own. sorry for bothering you. i'll go."

and kuramochi jumps down from the ledge of the balcony, with every intention of going like kazuya'd asked him to.

except kazuya's voice draws him back again. "wait!"

"what? is something wrong?" he asks, coming back, looking at kazuya, confused by the sudden outburst.

"you're...? how are you doing that?"

"doing what?"

"clearly, you're as dumb as you look. maybe you're such an airhead that you're able to float instead of fall like any normal person would."

"am not!" kuramochi shows kazuya how he's staying in the air, though, with the carpet. he forgot kazuya didn't know about it. "it's a magic carpet."

"so it's not the lack of brains in your head? disappointing."

"funny." but he has an idea, then, says it before he can think it over. "wanna go for a ride? get out of the palace for a bit? see the world?"

just the prospect of it--seeing the world--is exciting. kuramochi's sure they've both never been out of this city before. have been here forever. but now they have a chance to run away. to feel less trapped.

kazuya's silent, like he's thinking it over, studying kuramochi curiously. then, he says, "you're not going to try and push me off? or kidnap me, are you?"

despite the accusation, there's a smile threatening to break onto kazuya's lips. mirth in his eyes. and for a moment, kuramochi thinks he could look at them forever. knows that he wants to know this look more intimately than he's been allowed until now. hopes this isn't just a one time thing.

because he really doesn't want to give this up.

"yeah. because i plot murder and commit kidnappings every day."

"i knew i was right about the type of person you are. no surprises here."

"really." kuramochi tries to sound dismissive of kazuya's words, but he's sure his smile gives him away. "nothing's stopping us."

"nothing's stopping us," kazuya repeats.

kuramochi holds out his hand for kazuya to take. "do you trust me?"

there's something in kazuya's eyes--recognition, like the gears in his brain are turning and he's pieced this all together. but if he has, he doesn't say so. just reaches for kuramochi's hand, takes it. "when you put it like that... not like i have much of a choice."

"don't let me twist your arm." kuramochi laughs when he sees kazuya's smile, so similar to that day in the marketplace. he doesn't think he'll ever get enough of it... if he's allowed to see more of it. he pulls kazuya onto the carpet with him, pressed close to his side in the small space, kazuya holding onto him as they take off.

This is perfection on the Aladdin front- and yes, jun as the slightly grumpy genie is awesome!

Good job! Thanks for filling this!
