Bonus Round 3: FSTs

FSTs

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

Profess your love for your favorite ships with the power of song! In this round, we ask you to create fan soundtracks and use them as inspiration for new fanwork.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible.

RULES
  • Submit prompts in the form of a short playlist (1-6 songs) and a ship from any of our nominated fandoms. Submit only the track listing and a link to where they can be listened to; the idea is for others to interpret what you present. You may also link to lyrics if you would like.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Lilia & Sara). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Lilia/Sara). Please don't say "Any pairing," either.
  • Create content based on the playlists of others! Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
  • Fills may be in any form you choose (except for another FST of course) as long as they are inspired by/fit the mood of the soundtrack they are filling for.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
  • Here is a prompt/fill index for your convenience.

If you see anyone breaking the code of conduct (e.g., causing drama, being rude) anywhere (not just DW), please contact the mods immediately.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only (see the line of links below this post).

Have a question? Check The FAQ first. If you still need help, feel free to contact the mods. Happy fanworking!

They meet because Akashi is in want of a pianist to accompany him for a recital. The trees lining the path to the rehearsal rooms are heavy with cherry blossom petals, Akashi's eyes are soft and friendly, and he is the reason why Midorima learns to associate this time of the year with new beginnings, seasons aside.

Akashi holds his violin like he already knows every single, beautiful sound he can pull from its strings and he's pushing it to achieve its potential, rather than the other way around. His bow is a wand that casts magic over his audience and Midorima is no exception to this rule, sitting there long after they've finished their piece, watching Akashi with wonder.

There are all kinds of fables and myths about people following music to their own undoing and Midorima, for all his love of music, has never been able to conceptualise any music being that beautiful, until now. He would follow Akashi Seijuurou to the ends of the earth, into his own doom even if he saw it coming, just for the chance to bask in the way he paints beautiful sceneries with each draw of his bow.

As time wears on, Akashi is worn down.

Midorima has seen this happen in other musicians. Lesser musicians, he had thought before. Musicians who perform well to begin with, whose achievements are met with more expectation, until it begins weighing on their shoulders. He watches them sink, and he used to think that Akashi, so perfect, so talented, would not succumb to the same.

"It doesn't sound right," Akashi mutters, of a piece that he plays more beautifully than Midorima has ever heard it performed.

His ears are no longer objective though, and he knows that. Despite how hard he tries to remove himself from the situation, there is no way that he can hear Akashi's playing without recognising its tone, its quality. There is no way he will accept any other's playing above this.

Akashi, on the other hand, is too young to be dealing with the pressure that his teachers are putting on him, not yet equipped to deal with the fact that his father pushes him by making him feel that he isn't good enough yet.

When Akashi loses himself in music and practice and page after page of studies and technique builders, he doesn't come back out.

"Shintarou," he murmurs, linking his fingers with Midorima's taped fingers as he always does, but it feels different. He sounds different, and Midorima, for all his bias, has been born with the ability to tell when the intonation of something is off, has trained that skill to perfection.

Akashi sounds off, from his voice, to his breathing, to his heartbeat.

"Akashi," he begins, but he doesn't know what to say when he looks into the eyes watching him. They're mismatched, the colour of leaves in the autumn but with all the warmth of winter. Midorima wonders if they always looked this way, and when he lifts his hand to Akashi's cheek, they close. He's a little easier to look at like this.

"Shintarou," Akashi says again, covering Midorima's hand with his own and looking at him once again. "Shall we practice again?"

Just as Midorima always knew he would, he follows Akashi without a second thought.

wh

why are you doing this to me

I'm a good person, kii

my heart aches, it aches, I don't know what to do. I'm your midorima not understanding, but wanting to follow anyway, follow Akashi Seijuurou to the ends of the earth, into his own doom even if he saw it coming, GOD, KII. GOD. how did you manage the poignancy of trying, trying, trying and the practice never being enough. you used so little words, but the downhill of this is so steep and real.

"It doesn't sound right," Akashi mutters, of a piece that he plays more beautifully than Midorima has ever heard it performed. my heart, kii, my heart!!! everything about this is so quiet and fragile, one long sustained note of longing and the heavy finality of the process, and framed against midorima powerless in the face of akashi's beauty, akashi's pull, knowing just enough to not understand, is devastating. it's such a good mirror for their canon. it's so good. it's so good!!

what a beautiful thing you've made. it's going to sit in me for a good long while.

/There are all kinds of fables and myths about people following music to their own undoing and Midorima, for all his love of music, has never been able to conceptualise any music being that beautiful, until now. / god this really like, sets such a tone for the whole piece, and is a gorgeous insight to midorima's pov

/He watches them sink, and he used to think that Akashi, so perfect, so talented, would not succumb to the same. / GOD HE THINK SO HIGHLY OF AKASHI that even with akashi worn down, he still cannot fathom akashi's weakness as you say with the next line about objectivity

/When Akashi loses himself in music and practice and page after page of studies and technique builders, he doesn't come back out. / the way you paralleled it to knb canon ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

/He sounds different, and Midorima, for all his bias, has been born with the ability to tell when the intonation of something is off, has trained that skill to perfection. / when he has to use this ability on akashi ;;;;;;;; from his voice to his breathing to his heartbeat god i wanna cry

/Just as Midorima always knew he would, he follows Akashi without a second thought./ hes just so lost he doesnt know what to do even as he slowly loses akashi

thanks for my tears ;;
