Bonus Round 3: FSTs

FSTs

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

Profess your love for your favorite ships with the power of song! In this round, we ask you to create fan soundtracks and use them as inspiration for new fanwork.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible.

RULES
  • Submit prompts in the form of a short playlist (1-6 songs) and a ship from any of our nominated fandoms. Submit only the track listing and a link to where they can be listened to; the idea is for others to interpret what you present. You may also link to lyrics if you would like.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Lilia & Sara). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Lilia/Sara). Please don't say "Any pairing," either.
  • Create content based on the playlists of others! Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
  • Fills may be in any form you choose (except for another FST of course) as long as they are inspired by/fit the mood of the soundtrack they are filling for.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
  • Here is a prompt/fill index for your convenience.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only (see the line of links below this post).

FILL: TEAM PRINCE OF TENNIS, M

Ship: Akashi/Kuroko + a tiny hinted bit of Aomine/Kise
Fandom: Kuroko no Basuke
Major Tags: tags omitted
Other Tags: tags omitted
Word Count: 623 words

Emperor!Akashi AU and also wow those songs are amazing.

***

All empires eventually fall. That is what Akashi refuses to understand.

He thinks, just as every tyrant in history has thought, that he will be special. He will be different. His castles won’t crumble, his servants won’t flee. His dynasty will last forever.

But all empires eventually fall and emperors bleed just as red as the common man.

*

“Here,” Kise whispers and passes Kuroko a dagger so small and slim that it can be hidden within the sleeves of his robes. Kuroko accepts it and slides it up his sleeve. He doesn’t ask what it’s for.

Everyone comes armed to court these days.

*

Emperors aren’t divine, no matter what the priests say. They pass their power down to the next in line through seed not souls.

Akashi has shown Kuroko favor above all his other consorts and concubines. He has no children to carry on the line.

Contenders rise like weeds after rain.

*

“The people are unhappy,” Kuroko says, beringed hand running over Akashi’s chest. It is his privilege to touch the emperor instead of lying back and being touched; to caress Akashi is an honor and one that Kuroko frequently takes advantage of.

“The people are always unhappy,” Akashi says dismissively. “It is of no concern.”

“The rebellion in Seirin--”

“Is nothing new,” Akashi says. His index finger rests on Kuroko’s lips, shushing him. “I am absolute. These petty challenges to my authority will fail.”

The writing is on the wall but Akashi is blind. When Kuroko tries to read it to him, Akashi covers his ears.

How can he save his emperor now?

(Should he?)

*
The priests anoint him with holy oils; on the platform, Akashi grips the scepter and raises it above his head. One end of the scepter holds an orb of polished amethyst and the other an orb of topaz. Like this, Akashi’s power is amplified. Like this, the approaching army drops to their knees in wave after wave.

Fiery arrows rain down on them and smoke rises around Akashi as if the soldiers were nothing more than sticks of incense.

*

“You see?” Akashi says afterwards in their tent, Kuroko pinned under him and Akashi’s eyes glowing as brightly as the ends of his scepter. “I told you. Those who oppose me will fall.”

Fall and burn and be left on the fields for the birds to devour. When the birds were done with their grisly feast, their bones would be ploughed into the land so that in death they could redeem themselves for their traitorous acts.

The reek of the dead fills Kuroko’s nostrils and he has no appetite for love. He feigns it anyway and wonders why Akashi’s all-seeing eyes cannot see through Kuroko’s pretense.

*

When they return to the castle, they discover Aomine and Kise are missing. The general survived the battle, insofar as it could have even been called a battle instead of a slaughter, and Kise wasn’t even on the battlefield. A courtesan as pretty as him would not be risked in open combat even though he had fallen from Akashi’s favor once Kuroko had appeared.

Nobody dares to tell Akashi what is obvious: they have defected.

(They have seen the writing on the wall and heeded its warning.)

In public, Akashi is cold and calm, speaking of the possibility of guerilla attacks while seeding rumors that they have been sent out as spies, that they will pretend to have abandoned him while remaining loyal and feeding information to him.

In private, he takes his rage out on Kuroko.

Afterwards, Kuroko fingers the bruises on his throat and thinks of the dagger Kise slipped him.

It was not meant for use on himself, Kuroko knows, but he would not survive betraying his emperor.

I JUST REALLY LIKE WRITING TERRIBLE THINGS. I mean, I can totally write funny stuff and soft stuff but epic tragedies and worldbuilding are my favs.

Everyone coming armed to court is paraphased from the first song! XD The moment I read that lyric, I imagined a court where everyone has daggers up their sleeves and poison in their rings and Akashi in the center, seeing it all.

I wanted to leave it ambiguous as to whether Kise does stab Akashi or not - and if he sees it as saving Akashi. Who knows what an angry mob might do to him, after all? A quick clean death might be kinder.

(Lies. The betrayal would hurt more than anyone could believe).

BASICALLY YEAH. FAUX HISTORICAL AND MYTHICAL STUFF IS MY JAM. <3 And I'm glad you're chill with me just like. Collecting 70% of the stuff you prompt and warping it to my own weird ideas. XD
