Bonus Round 3: FSTs
Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible.
RULES
- Submit prompts in the form of a short playlist (1-6 songs) and a ship from any of our nominated fandoms. Submit only the track listing and a link to where they can be listened to; the idea is for others to interpret what you present. You may also link to lyrics if you would like.
- Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Lilia & Sara). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Lilia/Sara). Please don't say "Any pairing," either.
- Create content based on the playlists of others! Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
- Fills may be in any form you choose (except for another FST of course) as long as they are inspired by/fit the mood of the soundtrack they are filling for.

“Ahh--” Oikawa hissed in pain as Iwaizumi poked the largest of the bruise on his arm.
“Don’t be a baby,” Iwaizumi said dismissively, dipping his fingers into the salve and starting to work it into the swollen skin. “You’re lucky his shield didn’t break your arm.”
“Lucky would have been dodging entirely,” Oikawa groused, unable to stop himself from flinching every few seconds at the pressure of Iwaizumi’s fingers rubbing over the bruise.
“If you want to be able to dodge Kei, then practice more,” Iwaizumi said. Oikawa hissed again, toes scrunching up in the hard dirt. Sweat ran down his body, creating wet rivulets that Iwaizumi had to keep dabbing with a cloth so the sweat wouldn’t run into any of Oikawa’s new wounds or loosen the bandages.
“I practice plenty,” Oikawa said, flaring up briefly and then subsiding just as quickly when Iwaizumi prodded the bruise to make him quieten down. “Ow!”
“You practice plenty. So does he. So does every gladiator in this ludus.” Iwaizumi paused and looked up at Oikawa, still squatting on his heels. “We all want to be free and the only way to achieve that is to survive. Your pretty face and fans might have spared you today but if you lose the next match…”
All gladiators were taught how to die well and with honor. That did not mean any of them wanted to.
Oikawa’s face paled and he looked down at Iwaizumi’s hands, lacing his own bruised fingers through Iwaizumi’s. Fights to the death were common enough for the lower level of gladiator but with how much had been invested in the training and housing of the higher level gladiators, the sponsors of the gladiators preferred to keep them alive.
That did not mean they could lose with impunity.
Each loss meant fewer fans and therefore less protection.
“I won’t lose again,” Oikawa muttered, squeezing Iwaizumi’s hands even though it hurt him to do so. Blood leaked from under a fingernail and he let go with a huff, throwing himself backwards on the hard wooden bench.
“You’d better not,” Iwaizumi said, his own voice just a touch rougher than usual. “You promised me that we’d go home together.”
Oikawa shifted forwards and touched his split lip, sticky with blood, to Iwaizumi’s hair.
“We will,” he said simply. “These barbarians won’t keep us forever. We’ll get free and go home together.”
The worry lines in Iwaizumi’s forehead didn’t vanish but they did soften a little.
Oikawa counted it as a victory - his only one of the day.

this iwaoi dynamic!! i love how caring they are with each other but there's this bittersweet tension, this ever-present danger of losing each other, losing the crowd's favor, making a mistake, breaking a promise, asdasdasdsa-! this is so nice, th-thank you <3 i hope they get to go home together
but if it's anything like haikyuu canon ahahaha//curls up on the floorRe: FILL: TEAM PRINCE OF TENNIS, T
IwaOi in this setting works REALLY WELL but also really painfully. It's usually gladiators from different schools that are set against each other but IMAGINE IWAIZUMI AND OIKAWA BEING MADE TO FIGHT and both of them know that refusal = death but if they don't make it a good fight, one o them might be killed anyway.
It's what I was originally going to write but I have SUCH A THING for chars taking care of each other so I went with that instead of the HEY LET'S BREAK THE HEART OF THIS TOTAL STRANGER plot. XD

they would make it such a good match bc they know each other inside and out, but they'd never hurt each other for real and if the crowd turned on them...! YOU'D HAVE TO KILL THEM BOTH YOU COULDN'T SEPARATE THEM
