Bonus Round 3: FSTs

FSTs

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

Profess your love for your favorite ships with the power of song! In this round, we ask you to create fan soundtracks and use them as inspiration for new fanwork.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible.

RULES
  • Submit prompts in the form of a short playlist (1-6 songs) and a ship from any of our nominated fandoms. Submit only the track listing and a link to where they can be listened to; the idea is for others to interpret what you present. You may also link to lyrics if you would like.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Lilia & Sara). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Lilia/Sara). Please don't say "Any pairing," either.
  • Create content based on the playlists of others! Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
  • Fills may be in any form you choose (except for another FST of course) as long as they are inspired by/fit the mood of the soundtrack they are filling for.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
  • Here is a prompt/fill index for your convenience.

Akashi claims his birthright when he comes of age. It's a right given only to the royal family, but he is the first to claim it in several generations.

The ritual itself takes place deep in the dungeons. Akashi lays open his palm and outlines the two interlocking circles on the floor in his own blood. He sits in the center of one circle and begins to chant, the words building around him until he shouts the last four words of power to complete the spell.

He screams as half of his soul is torn from his body.

The court mages take over as he collapses, binding his sacrifice to the center of the other circle, using it as bait to summon a demon, and holding it as they sacrifice it for its power. The demon's shrieks join Akashi's screams and threaten to drown out the sound of the mages' chanting.

When the ritual finishes, Akashi is left lying on the cold stone with one eye that glows with demonic power and a searing ache in his chest that will never fully fade. The other half of his soul will be claimed upon his death as full payment for his borrowed power.

At least, that is how the ritual is supposed to work. But the ritual doesn't take into account a new ruler of hell who doesn't want to wait, and who doesn't doesn't take kindly to the sacrifice of his subordinates.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The only warning Akashi has when it happens is a yanking pain behind his eye that wakes him in the middle of the night. Then he's pulled through the hell gate opened by the demon king and falls into the waiting hordes of the demon king's armies. He fights as chains are yanked tight around his wrists and tries to speak the spell to call up wards, but a clawed hand strikes him across the face, laying open his cheek. His robes are ripped from his back to make way for the demons' whips and flails.
He breaks the wills of a few demons with the power of his eye, but the rest learn and aren't so foolish as to stand in front of him, and their wrath is worse for it. He tries not to cry out, but at some point his body stops obeying, and the demons only jeer more loudly.
When the demon king enters, his subjects fall silent, leaving only Akashi's last screams echoing in the cavernous space.
Unlike the lesser demons, Oikawa doesn't hesitate to stand in front of Akashi; Akashi's eye may grant him demonic powers, but it's useless before the strongest of the demons.
The demon king's appearance seems to shift as he approaches. On the surface, he wears a beautiful face, but Akashi can see the way it flickers around the edges, terrible claws and too many limbs slipping out around the edges. Oikawa stops before him and curls his claws under Akashi's chin.
He smiles when he sees Akashi's mismatched eyes, and his tongue darts out to lap at the blood trickling down Akashi's cheek. His breath is hot against Akashi's skin as his tongue snakes higher, curling lightly at the edge of Akashi's borrowed eye. Akashi can't suppress a shudder.
"I think you have something of mine," Oikawa says, his voice deceptively mild. "I'd like it back."
Akashi doesn't bother with niceties. He may be a captive of the demon, but he refuses to bow before his power. He isn't awed by anyone, not even the ruler of hell. He yanks his head back, ignoring the way the demon's claws score the back of his neck.
"I took it with a fair trade," he says. "You'll get the rest of your payment when the time comes."
Oikawa snaps his fingers and Akashi is yanked roughly back between his captors. "Take him to a cell," Oikawa orders. "We'll see how long he keeps singing his pretty song."
Akashi stumbles as he's shoved toward the side of the room, but the demons don't let him regain his balance; he's half-dragged out the door, the rough stones of the floor scraping the tops of his feet. He's brought deeper and deeper into Oikawa's stronghold until they throw him into an empty stone room. The heavy metal door slams shut behind them, and the deep echoes take too long to fade.
Akashi knows the goal is to scare him into submission; he's used similar tactics himself before, but he's not so easily cowed. He immediately sets his mind to planning. There's not much he can use down here in the dungeons, but there's loose mortar between some of the stones, and a couple of cracks running across the floor. He shreds his fingernails working some of them loose until he has a couple of makeshift knives that will serve him in a pinch.
He doesn't know for certain, but if Oikawa thinks like he does, and he suspects the demon king does, then he thinks he knows what the demon king's next move will be; after all, it's the next move that he would play. If he's right, then he doesn't have much time. He doesn't even need his knives yet; there's enough of his blood already flowing from the marks the demons have left on him.
He starts at the outer edges of the space and works his way in, drawing the most intricate and powerful circle he knows. It's a race against time, but he can't afford to make even a single mistake. He's starting to feel lightheaded from blood loss and pain by the time he finishes, and he relies on muscle memory to carry him through as he opens a shallow cut on his arm and uses the fresh blood to write the final runes on the points of the innermost circle.
Then he sit back and waits.
He doesn't have to wait long. Scarcely a few breaths later he hears the click of claws against stone, and he fights to keep the smile from his face when the demon king himself opens the door. As he had suspected, Oikawa is too proud to resist gloating, and too confident in his own powers to have even bothered bringing a guard with him.
The minute Oikawa steps across the threshold, Akashi recites the words of power that call up the wards of his circle. Mage fire burns around the edge of the outermost circle, trapping Oikawa in the space with him. Only one of them will leave, and Akashi is determined that it won't be the demon king.
Oikawa is fast though, and not easily startled, and he lunges across the space before Akashi can call up the second set of walls that would have protected him. The demon's claws sink into his shoulder, and he bites back a scream. Oikawa presses close to him, his tongue flicking toward Akashi's face again, and Akashi knows what he wants.
He also knows he'll never give up his hard-won power. There's too much he has left to do, and he won't accept failure, especially from himself.
Akashi changes his plan. He snaps out a few words of power, and more magefire springs up within the circle. Oikawa isn't deterred though, he presses closer even as the flames burn at his skin, filling the space with acrid smoke and the smell of burning flesh.
It slows Oikawa just enough though, and Akashi begins a second spell, chanting harsh, ugly words that were never meant for human ears. Oikawa wants his eye, but he'll sacrifice the rest of his soul before he gives up that power. The words tear out of his throat, and when the beginnings of a hell portal begin to open behind him, he knows Oikawa has seen the greater shape of his goal.
The demon king screams in frustration, no longer taking the time to form human words, and he yanks Akashi's head back with his claws.
It's a desperate race against time as Akashi shouts the final phrases of the spell that will use the rest of his soul to open a gate out of the demon's realm while Oikawa's claws scramble against his face.
In the end, Oikawa is faster, and Akashi screams as the demon's claw sinks deep into his eye and yanks. His concentration wavers, and his spell shatters as well, but Oikawa catches hold of the pieces and finishes them with his own power.
"Let this be a lesson," Oikawa hisses as he shoves Akashi roughly through the gate.
Akashi lands back on the cold stone of his own workroom floor, his hands pressed to his ruined eye. Oikawa meant to defeat him, but he is not so easily defeated. Conquering other empires can wait; he has a new goal: to destroy the king of the demons and his realm once and for all. Akashi is absolute. Anything that threatens him is punished; anyone who marks him as Oikawa has must face the full weight of his retribution.
Revenge is still the only thing on his mind when a servant finds him the next morning, half-conscious and lying in a drying pool of his own blood.
