sportsanime | Bonus Round 4: Quotes

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

An oldie but a goodie—in this round, we draw inspiration from famous words said by other people.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible.

RULES

Submit prompts by commenting to this post with a quote attributed to a specific person or character, along with any ship/ot3/etc. from one of our nominated fandoms.
- Example: "That which does not kill us makes us stronger." -Friedrich Nietzsche
- The quote can come from almost anything—famous people, poetry, songs, books, movies, etc.— but please don't quote personal conversations you've had or overheard.
- Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Natsuo & Yuzuko). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Natsuo/Yuzuko). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!

SCORING

These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

"People who think dying is the worst thing don't know a thing about life." Manami sighs, watching the man in the river struggle as he's pulled under the water again. He's not sure why the guy's even trying to break the surface. Didn't he make his mind up to die when he left his shoes on the bridge?

Beside him, Teshima sighs and marks something in his notebook.

"Perhaps. But humans aren't generally known for their infinite foresight. Or knowledge for that matter." The senior mutters, tucking the book into his pocket. "But do you really have to say the same thing every time we find a suicide victim?"

"Because they don't ever seem to figure it out!" Manami whines, rearranging himself on the rock they've sat themselves on. It's a prime position - close enough to the bridge to watch people jump (or get pushed, or get thrown), but far enough to be hidden from view. Not that they had to worry mind you - only children, animals, and the dying and the dead could see reapers anyway. "I mean, isn't it more exciting to live? Living hurts you again and again but... None of them appreciate that!"

"Some of them do." Teshima tuts. "The ones who almost fall to us but suddenly recover. Or get blessed enough for another chance."

Interestingly, his senior scowls at this, and Manami turns away from the man who has yet to surface and studies the other instead.

"I mean," Teshima continues, needing no further prompting other than having an audience, "It's all well and good if those guys up there want to give people second chances, but at least decide before we get the paperwork for them! You know how annoying it is to log a reversal of collection!?"

"That's why I leave all those to you, partner~" Manami smiles, earning him a withering glare.

"I know. But you'll never learn how to do them if you don't actually do one yourself." The other says, leaning over to smack Manami upside the head. "What if your next partner isn't as accommodating as I am?"

"I don't plan on transferring, Teshima-san~" Manami chuckles, rubbing the back of his head even though the smack didn't really hurt. "And you can't really request a transfer since you're already a senior member, right?"

"So I'm stuck with you."

"You're stuck with me!"

Teshima sighs, Manami grins, and the man's soul finally floats to the surface of the water.

"Come on then. We still have a hospital visit and something by the school later tonight." His senior says, pushing off the rock and making his way down onto the bank. "Hopefully this guy won't run off like the other two."

"I'm still surprised we aren't allowed to restrain them." Manami says, watching as the soul pushes himself up to stand on the water (and in turn look thoroughly confused.) "I mean, if they escape, they become ghosts right? Wouldn't forcing them to pass on be better than letting them stay here?"

"Unfortunately, they still have a little bit of free will here." Teshima shrugs, stepping onto the water and pausing as the soul spots them and tenses. "So we can't exactly get around that."

Teshima clears his throat, but Manami speaks before he has a chance to deliver his formal address.

"Shimada-san~! We're here to collect your soul!"

They'd probably end up chasing the soul for the next hour. But Manami feels it's worth it for the look of horror on the soul's face before it turns to flee; and for the look of irritation on his partners' face.
