i wrote this after not sleeping for 36+ hours and this is all i can say about it

it’s a cliché but the way they fit together is less of a fit and more of a clash. Something like “unstoppable force meets unmovable object”. something like that but in the poetical, cosmic sense of the expression, which must surely exist — too fast paced for anyone but them to follow, but in this stage for two either you lose or you manage.
Hits don’t run out, neither do the exchanges, but at times (only at times) they wear down enough for words to fit in. Those do run out — Then, sometimes, their mouths follow.
It’s never a kiss, it’s a tangle, limbs itching to overpower and convoluted thoughts that knot together, caprice a nest of snakes that know only to swallow,
Tongues spilling with the taste of iron, of ink, the craving an itch too bloody to be red. they come out full of scratches, full of
reawakened absence dribbling heavy down an emptiness that wasn’t filled, but that was never the goal was it? it’s a hunger too deep to be sated with the missing pieces of some old puzzle.
It’s a roadmap of words exchanged that are known before they’re said. 1. “What did you want?” 2. (Not what you would like) “My time’s worth”, like they aren’t teetering the edge of ‘priceless’ and ‘a waste’.
It’s a rendez-vous of the type Natsuo stands, a different kind of fight, so nothing tender gets the chance to surface;
(though sometimes their nails just manage to scratch tender tissue — One of their gorey bits, and it startles them like they aren’t full of them)
It doesn’t feel like looking for something in the wrong place, and maybe one day they’ll be able to fill the vacant spaces with the other’s help. Sanae thinks that sometimes, not that she wouldn’t bet money on it. Mostly she’s just sure they’re both on this ride because a rope’s been weaved too tight for them to withdraw— so they keep walking, trailing the cage. lunging forward is by now only one thought away. Or maybe they’ll find an out this way, tear a way out this way — maybe the exit is just one collision away, maybe that’s what they’re meant to find in the space between them where only developed instinct and umbrage fit. she thinks that, but Natsuo’s sure she’s carved her name in the inner of her ribs. an itch over a place that was supposed to be her’s, just not like that.
It’s a certainty, so it doesn’t matter that’s not a pretty one. History is hard to kill; At this point, they shouldn’t even think to try.
It’s the way Natsuo’s hands are cold, how her touch drags like daggers. She’ll laugh, sometimes, her eyes brimming with amusement, with victory. She definitely thinks that this is the kind of game she wins by default the moment Sanae agrees to play.
Sanae bites down until her teeth force that laugh to strain. it’s a warning and a promise.
