Bonus Round 5: Clue

Clue

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

Sometimes, all you need are a few little details to imagine something bigger. This round is inspired by a classic board game with a cast of colorful characters, but for SASO your only limits on "who", "where", and "with what" are what you can imagine (and the SASO fandom list, of course)!

This round closes on 5 August @ 7PM EDT. (Countdown Timer.)

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES
  • Submit prompts by commenting to this post with the format of a Clue mystery - "[character] in the [location] with [item]", along with any ship/ot3/etc. from one of our nominated fandoms.
    • Example: Sawamura Daichi in the teachers' lounge with the Hello Kitty! lunchbox
    • The person in your prompt MAY be a member of your ship, but is not REQUIRED to be part of your ship. They must still be a named character from a SASO-nominated fandom.
    • Your place must be a physical location, not a state of being or a state of being. However, this location is not required to be real, nor must it be from the same setting as the characters.
    • The "item" used must be a physical object that the character can hold or manipulate.
    • Unlike the board game, your prompt is NOT required to imply murder. The scenario implied can be anything at all! (As always, please tag properly!)
    • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Natsuo & Yuzuko). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Natsuo/Yuzuko). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
  • Fill prompts by replying to the prompt with your Clue-inspired fanwork.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
  • Here is a prompt/fill index for your convenience.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only (see the line of links below this post).

whispers "i could almost fall in love with him"

***

Manami wasn't really the type that frequents bookstores much. Sure, he knew what they looked like inside –– It wasnt like he had never set foot in one, though he'll be the first to admit that most of the times it had been thanks to Miyahara. It wasn't that he didn't like reading either, he just had other interests that were easier to indulge.

That didn't mean he couldn't read though. Miyahara once said that people who didn't like reading simply handn't found a book for them yet. Manami had nodded, assuming she was right as usual.

As it turned out, she was.

It happened on a weird day–– A rest day, actually.. A rest day, you say? Manami doesn't believe in those. Yes, that's right, he does not, but it was raining cats and dogs and according to two old ladies he overheard talking there was even a chance of husbands later, so even if he had wanted to ignore that he wasn't supposed to climb today the weather simply made a rather convincing argument not to.

For no reason in particular, he found himself arriving to a mall. He was already there so why not window shop for a little, right? Not much else to do. So he looked around and the first store he laid eyes on happened to be a bookstore, and then.

Then he saw it.

It's a sign, he thought, making a beeline to enter the bookstore and buy the book. The lady at the cashier noticed, of course, and was particularly pleasant to him as she checked-out the book for him. A fan too, right? She asked excitedly, and he saw her eyes light up when he nodded and said 'you could said that?'. He doesn't have that many male fans, you know? It's so odd!, she continued, handing the book in a bag over to him. He did know, actually, and that seemed to delight her even more. So she waved him to get closer and said, he'll be signing books this weekend! Won't you come? It'll be fun!

Well, if he was going to assist better read the book beforehand, right?

"So I think I finished it in two days, maybe?", concluded Manami, smile in place as he got his book back, signed.

Toudou just threw his head back and laughed in that signature way of his.

"It was fate!", he said, waving at Manami to get on the other side of the table so they can talk some more. "Since it obviously wasn't email. I did text you about this, you know, Manami! Have you been forgetting to check your phone again?"

"Ah... I think I gave it to Kuroda-san to carry it two weeks ago and... never asked for it back." His smile turns apologetic. It probably achieves its' intended effect on Toudou, since he just shakes his head and lets him off the hook like that.

"Then get it back! I could've given you a free copy, you know? I'm not all that worried about sales after all–– It's selling really well!" He laughs again and this time Manami is the one shaking his head. When he showed it to Miyahara, she gave her verdict after only one chapter: The narrative style was the most impressive thing. Besides that? She just couldn't see the appeal of the author.

That was fine. It wasn't a book for everyone, though he hoped Miyahara would give it another chance –– She didn't get far after all, which was a shame since as the chapters went on it got surprisingly insightful and even gave a couple of interesting advices when it came to road racing and, uh, life?

"So which was your favorite part, Manami?"

He hums.

"Probably something that happened during the Interhigh chapters? You described such interesting strategies Toudou-san."

"Mhmm?"

"Heh. You remembered so many details from that so well."

Toudou just smiles knowingly. Of course it was.
