Bonus Round 7: Free For All

Let's finish SASO 2017 with a bang. This bonus bonus round allows any kind of prompt imaginable in any format. The sky's the limit!



SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible.

 

RULES

• Submit prompts by commenting to this post with literally any kind of prompt, along with any ship/ot3/etc. from one of our nominated fandoms, with the following caveats:
  • Large image prompts should be thumbnailed and linked to, as explained here.
  • Fanart/fanfiction/fanwork prompts are only allowed if you created the fanwork yourself or if you have explicit permission to use it, and proof of permission must be linked to in your prompt header.
  • Quote prompts can come from almost anything, but please don't quote personal conversations you've had or overheard.
  • Reposting prompts is fine, but be respectful and keep crediting in mind. A prompt belongs to the person who posted it to this round, and who can fill it is determined by whether or not they are on that person's team.
    • If reposting a br2 (tic tac toe) prompt, please post each prompt square as its own individual comment. Posting tic tac toe boards wholesale will crash our br scorer and the bonus doesn't apply for this round, anyway.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Akira & Hikaru). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Akira/Hikaru). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
• Besides that, if you want to prompt something, regardless of format—even formats not previously allowed in SASO—go right ahead. If you're unsure you can ask us for clarification, but tbh just go for the gold.
• Fill prompts by replying to the prompt with a fanwork.
• Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

• 400 words (prose)
• 400px by 400px (art)
• 14 lines (poetry)
• 8 tracks (fanmixes)

There is no max work cap.

SCORING

These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

“Ganeko is so fiery. It’s amazing how she fades in the background until she opens her mouth.”

When the next thing the club member who said those words saw happened to be Sanae’s face, that they looked shocked was putting it lightly. Then again, Sanae can’t say she was much better, her own face a poem on being caught off guard for a solid couple of seconds — before she reigned over her emotion, going back to her serious self.

A small reprimand on minding one’s words was in order, the incident meant to be forgotten then and there. Wasn’t a little indiscretion and the ocasional accidental imprudence between high schoolers anything but expected?

Except that as she was about to open her mouth, someone scoffed behind them.

“I’m right here!”, said the girl, materializing behind them who knows when. Ganeko completely disregards whatever their faces are doing in favor of placing her hands on her hips and continue talking. “I don’t fade in the background, you’re just not paying attention!”

Her eyes flickered to Sanae then, and although belatedly, she finds herself nodding to reaffirm the other’s words.

“You should know better than to disregard people like that. Especially when we’re talking about a team member.” And though she knows that’s not what they meant, she projects conviction, assured in the knowledge that she was right thing a way.

After a minute silence, they’re offered an apology. Unsurprisingly. Sanae knew she was abusing her power a little there. Not many found it easy to talk back or even disregard her words when they found themselves being chastised by her. The nerve that took she’s only seen it once in all her life.

Once they’re left alone, Mai sighs.

“That was so rude”, she complains. There’s anger in her stance, but it’s perhaps more for show if not pride at this point. Then, she mumbles: “It isn’t even the first time…”

“… It’s not?” Sanae asks, carefully neutral, but doesn’t find it hard to believe. Not if she thought about it. Even back then, when compared to those she hung out the most —Natsuo and Sanae herself—, it was almost inevitable that she’d be overlooked in favor of the other two. Did Natsuo ever see her for who she was at all?

Hadn’t Sanae been guilty of the same too?

But Ganeko had other ways to make herself be seen. A straightforward, candid honesty, the vulnerability that came from that. How she took her openness and made it a weapon, and unabashedly declared that she’d use it to lift and protect and loyalty stand besides—

(Well.)

Or how her constancy was a weight but not a burden. Even if Sanae lost sight of her, she never lost sight of Sanae, did she? She knows that for a fight, the weight of Mai’s attention always on her, her support almost tangible even when she stubbornly set her sights on someone Mai had openly claimed didn’t deserve it.

“I think those who don’t notice you, Mai”, she says at last, shifting slightly closer to her. “Need to watch out.”

Mai looks less upset, looks completely open. Sanae knew, intuitively, too well that her eyes were as open as her heart.

She let’s herself be open too.

“And those who do? We’re lucky to have you by our side.” She smiles a little. “Even if sometimes we simply cannot find you.”

ah, thank you! i like sanae's instinctive reaction is to protest, but she also realizes that she's overlooked ganeko too. and her sternly telling the other club members off, knowing they won't talk back.

“I think those who don’t notice you, Mai”, she says at last, shifting slightly closer to her. “Need to watch out.” was such a great line! thank you!
