A shipping olympics favorite, this round uses quotes of all sorts to fuel your creative endeavors.

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on July 21 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

Tags for Yakuza mention, thunder and lightning, and cuteness.This doesn't quite make sense but I just wanted to write cute asanoya.

It's a night of thunder and lightning and rain as cold as snow, he thinks. Yuu would cackle at the thought. A big guy like you shouldn't get cold so easily is what he'd say.

It was always Yuu that wore a tee and scarf in the winter and Asahi bundled up like a bear for hibernation. He's bundled up right now and wielding an umbrella. The blue of it clashes with his olive green coat and dark beige scarf. The Gari-Gari kun mascot's face that's plastered on the thing definitely did not help.

Yuu had taken his umbrella again. It's not even the same colour. His is a calming green gradient with little leaves detailed to make it seem like he was under a tree while in the rain. Yuu had laughed softly under his breath at the sight. It's so you, Asahi! He had said. His smile had been blinding.

He turns a sharp corner and almost bumped into a couple old ladies. He bows profusely in apology, the bento boxes in his hand clanging as he bent. The two women chuckle as they accept his apology and he continues on his way.

Yuu always said he has a way with the elderly and Asahi would retort that he had a way with the kids. It's as if once they saw Yuu, they automatically think that he was one of them. Maybe it was his height or his beaming smile or the way that his entire being spoke of those same fearless ways of youth that has never burned out in him even after all these years.

Asahi can't help but smile at the thought. Even as he rushed by some scary people peeking from the alleyways. The rain is still beating hard and he won't say whether or not he did squeak at that strike of thunder. He blames it on those piercing seething eyes from the tattooed hunched men hiding between the buildings.

He always attracted trouble. So did Yuu. Whether it was his height, bulk, beard, or bun or maybe Yuu's loudness, stubbornness, and dyed hair, there has been several times when Yakuza men had approached them. A lot of times it was territory clarification but sometimes it wasn't. He could always trust Yuu though to spring into action whenever needed. Probably not the right action but spontaneity suited him more than careful planning will ever.

He reaches a small crowd of people all covered up like him. Some are sharing umbrellas, giggling under them, holding hands, whispering softly to one another. He feels his own fingers twitch with longing.

Sharing an umbrella with Yuu was always what Tsukkishima would deadpan as 'a fun time'. He'd get his head stuck when Yuu bounced around too much or maybe he would accidentally tip over rain water into Yuu's head. They've gotten used to it though. Not that they were two pieces of a puzzle meant to fit but they chose to fit. Chose to adjust and squeeze and tweak to fit the other and now they do so perfectly.

He's smiling to himself as he reaches the doors. A quick double knock before he slips in just in time to hear the powerful smack of hand on rubber. He watches in awe as the whirl of blue and yellow spins through the air at such speed. His whole body tensed and ready to dive. But he doesn't cause he sees him. Sees him move so swiftly, so gracefully. He dives cleanly and the ball that had been flying at probably the speed of a bullet was stopped. It bounces almost silently off familiar bruised and battered arms. It floats almost gently into the waiting calloused palms. And suddenly everything is in motion again. The ball is set and the spikers run up and the ball is smashed sharply downwards. There is cheering and loud celebration but Asahi is smiling softly at his Libero.

Yuu turns and Asahi can tell when he finds him. His eyes widen slightly then they melt with such warmth Asahi feels like blushing. Yuu dodges pats on the back and slips through one-armed hugs to slide his own arms around his boyfriend's waist.

"You're wet," He whispers after a soft kiss on his lips.

"It's raining," Asahi replies just as quietly.

He laughs both loud enough to tremble through Asahi and quiet enough to share just between the two.

"You didn't have to come."

"I brought food."

" It's raining, Asahi. "

"That's what I said, Yuu, weren't you listening," He laughs and Yuu jabs him in the side lightly, returning the laughter, "I'd go through anything for you," He says softer, sweeter.

It's enough to have Yuu blushing and ducking his head. His lithe arms pull him in closer and soft lips tickle his collarbone, chapped as they were.

"Me too."

Yachi is chasing across the sleeping rooftops like a shooting star.

She’s flanked by her two most steadfast companions, The Jump and The Fly, who add elan to her stride and pretty white wings to her pink slippered feet. Kiyoko can still hear the two Cards bickering from where she is, nestled between the forked branches of the old cedar that grows along the path that leads down to the shrine, and she smiles the smallest smile at how they’ve all grown so much, to work together like this, even in the face of the coming hardships she just read to them from the pattern of the stars and the quiet falling of the leaves.

Maybe especially because she had laid it out to them; they had always listened to her, when she had rung time still with the ceremonial bell she always carried tucked in her long white sleeves. She had read the wide eyed wonder in Yachi’s eyes especially clear, and Kiyoko had made sure to secure that feeling safe inside the depths of her sleeves then, too.

Kiyoko trusts in them and their strength, and though she knows no Card is truly malicious, but she is also keenly aware of Yamaguchi still recovering in the antechamber of the shrine, deep in a healing sleep. He should have never been involved in this and Kiyoko knows that the ones they love will only become inevitable tangled in this as they get closer and closer to the day of Final Judgement.

So she does what she can; readies a fan of ofuda across the spread of her fingers as she watches The Sword turn around to face Yachi and her Staff of Crow held high; he’s so tall, the wand barely crests his head, and his hair is gleaming gold in the moonlight, the same gold as the cut of his blade, and his eyes are unreadable behind the glint of his glasses.

“Is all this really necessary,” The Sword says, and his mouth might have been a sneer if it had not been so soft at the edges; Kiyoko can tell he’s amused, and she relaxes just a little bit. The ofuda fall away into small feathers in the night air.

“You, you hurt Yamaguchi-kun,” Yachi replies, barely a stammer in her too loud voice. The Jump and The Fly are quivering with fighting intent behind her, but she holds them back with a small hand. “You should come back and apologise to him!”

“I did, didn’t I,” The Sword looks away, and behind his glasses Kiyoko can see remorse in his eyes. “I didn’t mean to. I just--”

“It’s okay! You didn’t mean to, and you just need to explain, and I’m sure Yamaguchi-kun will be fine, it was only a small scratch, and you did help protect him from bullies I guess, but maybe there’s a better way to do that, and--”

The Sword starts to laugh, softly, bent over, and he reaches one long arm out to the Staff of Crow held wide in Yachi’s hands; she smiles, and she speaks the familiar words, and when the light of the magic circle engulfs them for a moment in the dark under the sleeping world, Kiyoko thinks that maybe there is nothing to fear, maybe Yachi and this strength is all they will truly need.

i really enjoyed this interpretation of the prompt and the universe you created here, especially with all the nishiura cameos helping mihashi out. the intensity of mihashi and abe's relationship is something i always love to see, and i got so emotional at the end ;_; thank you for the fill!

(and sorry for the late reply! i was really excited to see this had been filled, but couldn't quite handle gory things this past weekend, so i had to be patient ;v;)

Okay, so you know I already screamed about this on twitter, but I have to scream again, because Lucky! LUCKY! It's so good!

I just really love how you made Kinjou and Kaidou look similar enough to make up half of the picture each and blend together so flawlessly, but also still have them be distinct. Like, they have the same eye shape, but Kaidou's is a little sharper. And you can tell that Kinjou's nose is a little wider than Kaidou's. And the eyebrows, and the different skin tones, and and... AHHH!!!!

And the background!!!!! And the lightsaber colors!! (It's their canon colors and they work!!! Kinjou gets the Mace Windu lightsaber, this is so much.)

Also, I love that Kinjou is rocking the black-turtleneck-Jedi look, a la Luke, like I'm just so amused by that for no reason. You know he looks completely flawless on the battlefield.

Kuroko/Kise, genderbending, G, 515 words

Kise waits until the lights in Aomine's apartment come on before barging into the building and throwing the door to her ex-girlfriend's place open. "I know you're in here, you tartlet!"

A pale girl with cotton candy blue hair stares at Kise. She's holding onto a bag of lizard food while a large Husky huffs happily around the room.

"Um," Kise says while the Husky pads up to her and sets a large paw on her leg. How cute! "I know who you are! You're the girl Aominecchi cheated on me with!" Admittedly, Kise's accusation sounds less threatening while she's petting said tartlet’s dog.

"Ah. You must be Kise-san. Aomine-san told me about you."

Kise tries to glare but fails. Damnit, she loves dogs! "She better have!"

The girl sets the lizard food down next to Tiger's tank, and Kise is secretly glad that she's no longer dating someone who named their pet lizard after another animal. In fact, her bitterness towards the breakup is now but a dull ache, but Kise couldn't give up the chance to confront the homewrecker when she learned about Aomine going out of town.

"Actually, Aomine-san went to Las Vegas with Kagami-san. I'm just here to pet sit for them. My name is Kuroko, and that's Nigou."

A million thoughts fly through Kise's head, all some variation of oh shit oh shit and Kuroko is really cute. "Oh," Kise says dumbly. The silence is punctured by Nigou's happy bark, and Kise looks down to pet Nigou with a sigh. "You have a really lovely dog."

"Thank you." Kuroko disappears into the bathroom to wash her hands, and Kise is left with Nigou in the living room. Tiger seems completely uninterested in this turn of events as he dozes inside of his tank, and Kise wonders where she went wrong with her life. Maybe she can sneak out before Kuroko comes back and pretends this never happened?

"Can we start over?" Kise asks when Kuroko returns. "I'm Kise Ryouko."

Kuroko's face is unreadable save for the small tilt of her lips. "Yes, the model. I've heard of you." She doesn't clarify whether this is because of Kise's fame in the industry or because of her infamy amongst Aomine's friends.

"How do you know Aominecchi?" Kise asks, trying to paste on her brightest smile.

"Aomine-san cheated on me," Kuroko replies, face blank. After a beat, she tilts her head and says, "that was a joke. We used to play basketball together."

This is news to Kise, for she also met Aomine while playing basketball for a fundraiser. "Oh! Me too!" She's interrupted when Nigou, bored with the conversation, puts two paws on Kise's shoulder until Kise is sitting butt-flat on the floor.

"It's time for Nigou's walk," Kuroko says quietly. "Would you like to join us?"

Kise looks between Kuroko and the bookcase that no longer houses framed photos of Kise. It’s true that Kise gets attached to people and things easily, yet there’s something promising about Kuroko’s smile.

"Yeah," Kise says with a grin. "Let's go!"

Imaizumi/Naruko, G, no tags, 534 words

By the time they regain control of the Castle of Lions, Imaizumi has been in critical condition for a day. This makes Naruko justifiably anxious, and he tells Onoda this much when the Yellow Paladin suggests that Naruko take a break from guarding Imaizumi's healing pod.

"Maybe if I glare at him more, he'll wake up," Naruko mumbles. Yet, he lets himself get dragged into the common room. "This sucks."

Aya doesn't look up from reading her book. "Quit moping. Your boyfriend will wake up soon enough."

"My what?" Naruko manages to stutter out. "You take that back!"

"It's not an insult," Aya points out, but that does nothing to ease Naruko's fuss. The commotion only ends when Princess Miki appears with Sugimoto in tow, and Aya immediately loses interest in teasing Naruko.

"Imaizumi-kun will wake up when he's ready," Princess Miki explains. "Please do not fret. We have more important things to worry about, like tracking the Galra Empire."

Still, Naruko feels restless as the days go by. He spends his free time on the training deck, keeping Onoda company in the kitchen, or watching Sugimoto temper with the ship. It's not until three days later, when Naruko is checking the hospital ward, that Imaizumi's pod flashes.

Naruko watches with wide eyes when Imaizumi's recovery pod opens and ejects the Blue Paladin. He moves forward just in time to catch Imaizumi in his arms. "Wha? Hotshot?"

Imaizumi stirs and makes a grunting noise.

The pod must have triggered some sort of signal in the command room, because the other paladins soon filter into the room with various degrees of haste. Princess Miki is the last to arrive, but she looks delighted at the sight of Imaizumi sitting down. "You're awake!"

"What happened?" Imaizumi asks while Onoda hands him a glass of space-juice.

"The castle was attacked by Galra and you got your ass kicked," Aya helpfully supplies. "Onoda disarmed enough of them for Naruko to defeat their commander.”

Imaizumi frowns. "I don't remember."

"You've been asleep for days," Princess Miki adds gently.

"Naruko defeated the commander?" Imaizumi asks, a beat late.

"Hey!" Naruko glares. "I was a hero!"

Imaizumi raises an eyebrow. "You?"

"Rude! We had a bonding moment! I cradled you in my arms!"

"Be nice," Princess Miki warns them both. "Naruko-kun was incredibly worried about you, Imaizumi-kun. He stayed by your pod every day."

When Imaizumi turns to look at him, Naruko feels himself blushing. "I'm going back to the training deck!" He announces to save himself from further embarrassment.

Later, when Naruko has sparred out all of his frustration, he returns to his room to find Imaizumi sitting on his bed.

"You scared me, Hotshot."

Imaizumi shrugs. "I visit you all the time."

"I meant you getting hurt!"

"Oh," Imaizumi says, scooting to make room for Naruko on the bed. "Sorry. Would cuddling make you feel better?"

Naruko can feel himself deflate. "Yeah."

Imaizumi waits until they're arranged comfortably on Naruko's bed before speaking up. "Thanks for... Cradling me? I guess."

This just makes Naruko cackle in delight. "It's not that different from what we always do!"

"Yeah," Imaizumi agrees with a soft sigh.
