They try holding hands.
Only, Chihaya's palms get too sweaty from how flustered she is, and Shinobu can't seem to stop gripping too tightly at times.
"This is harder than I thought," Chihaya says mournfully.
"It is," comes Shinobu's assent, although she's reluctant on giving up so easily. Maybe, she can grab Chihaya's hand again much later on, once they're both more relaxed.
(Or maybe she won't, because her heart had started beating way too fast as her fingers lay tangled with Chihaya's. She's not sure if she wants to relive that particular sensation just yet.)
"Let's go and try do something else," she offers instead.
The way that Chihaya immediately perks up brings her a sense of satisfaction so great that it resembles the rush she feels whenever she's successfully defended her title as Queen from anyone who dares come to challenge-- particularly if it's Chihaya.

They try hand-feeding each other.
The sun's out so the day's warm and mild, making it perfect weather for picnics. They find a spot under one of the many blooming sakura trees and settle down after setting a mat, and their bento on one of its side.
Chihaya's bento is made up of onigiri, small pork cutlets, octopus sausages and cherry tomatoes. Shinobu had gone for something lighter instead: a pack of red bean paste buns, all in circular Snowmaru shapes.
Here, Chihaya peers at one of them and it's obvious how much she wants to try it from the way her lips are mashed together, making them turn cherry-red. Before Chihaya can stall in asking any longer, Shinobu casually brings the bun and presses it to her mouth.
"Aah," Shinobu intones.
Chihaya opens her mouth obediently and closes her teeth around the bread.
(She tries to ignore the heat creeping along the back of her neck when her fingers brushes against Chihaya's chapped lips.)
"Your turn too!" Chihaya then exclaims, picking a sausage up with her chopsticks, and sails her hand towards Shinobu. In her haste, however, she ends up poking it against her girlfriend's nose instead. It slides down, leaving an oily track on her face.
Shinobu slowly surmises that this date is decidedly taking after a pattern of its own, one that would involve the both of them fumbling.
A lot.

Unsurprisingly, they do.

Lastly, they try kissing.
"In public?" Chihaya wants to confirm, ready for Shinobu to back out if she needs to, considering her auspicious background and the way the rest of society around them in the park might judge.
But Shinobu has long wanted to give no care to them, she wants to rebel in her own ways and carve her life in the way she truly desires.
She says of course and kisses Chihaya.
It's the only thing that doesn't go wrong during their date today; their silver lining.
