Let's start our summer by looking at the past—things that happened in canon, or maybe in an AU, or maybe just as wishful thinking...

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on June 9 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES

Submit prompts by commenting to this post! You prompt should consist of one scenario beginning with the phrase "Remember when", along with any ship/ot3/etc. from our list of nominated fandoms.
- Your prompts can take the form of recalling canon facts/events ("Remember when Nozomi and Eli got parfaits after school?"), non-canon events ("Remember when Megumi and Jin met at the Tadokoro Family Reunion?"), or somewhere in-between ("Remember when Bokuto and Kenma first met?"). Headcanons and AUs are welcome!
- Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Rei & Nagisa). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Rei/Nagisa). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!

no tags, Nijimura/Himuro, G, 745 words

Nijimura's chair is empty when he finally gets out of the department meeting. He should have known that dividing up assignments over March Madness would take more than the half-hour stated on the google calendar invite, so Nijimura is not surprised to find that his daughter has left the ipad on his desk after getting bored of puzzle games.

Unfortunately, said department meeting also took away any key witnesses as everyone slowly returns to their desks. No doubt Nina had gotten bored and wandered into another area of the building, but Nijimura's guess was as good as anyone else's.

"You should've made your ex-wife look after her!" Haizaki calls from his desk, mouthing I told you so when Nijimura glares at him.

The problem with working in the sports department of the Tribune is that his daughter has little interest in sports and too much interest in everything else. This makes Nijimura's life harder as he goes from area to area in search of a seven year old. Eventually, he finds Nina in the cafe downstairs with Tatsuya, who has a smudge of flour on his face as he feeds Nina a slice of cake. This is probably his own fault, Nijimura thinks. Nina definitely gets her sweet tooth from him.

"Hello, Shuu." Tatsuya smiles while Nina looks between the two of them.

"You know Tou-san?" Nina asks.

"Yes," Tatsuya says mildly while keeping his gaze on Nijimura.

Nina squints. "Are you friends?"

"Yes." Nijimura stares back at Tatsuya.

Nina has a half-pout, half scowl on her face. That one, she definitely gets from Nijimura. "Tou-san, you're a liar." For a moment, Nijimura thinks that the jig is up, but Nina just goes on waving a fork at him. "You said I'm the prettiest person ever, but Himuro-san is much prettier than me!"

Nijimura has absolutely no response to that, so he watches as Tatsuya smile and thank Nina. He absently takes note of Murasakibara watching them from the counter, but ignores him and takes a seat next to Nina.

"Can we come here again tomorrow? I like it here. I want to eat Himuro-san's cake again."

"Do you like Himuro-san?" Nijimura asks, giving Tatsuya the stink eye while Tatsuya chuckles over the new-found formality.

"Yes?" Nina replies and sets her fork down. He knows, that she knows, that it's a trick question. "Do you?"

Nijimura's mind whirls as he tries another approach. "You're going to the beach tomorrow with your mom, remember? You've been waiting all month to spend the week with her." This was all true, up until his ex-wife had to deal with a work emergency and he had gotten stuck looking after Nina for the day. This wasn't anything new to Nijimura, but times like this reminded him of how bitterly their marriage had ended. "But we can come back and visit Himuro-san again, I promise."

This satisfies Nina until she finishes the cake. They bid Tatsuya and a bored Murasakibara goodbye and returns upstairs where Nina spends her time shooting stress balls into the basketball hoop over Haizaki's desk. Her mother comes to pick Nina up in the afternoon, looking apologetic and harried as she promises dinner at Nina's favorite katsudon place. Haizaki leers at Nijimura's ex-wife, but Nijimura just throws the left over stress ball at his head.

After work, Nijimura waits an hour for Tatsuya's shift to end. They barely make it into Nijimura's car before Tatsuya starts laughing. "She's just like you."

"I know," Nijimura grumbles.

"She even came in looking for something sweet, like you."

"I know."

Tatsuya touches Nijimura's shoulder and looks at him. "You'll have to tell her eventually."

This makes Nijimura sigh as he leans into his seat. He reaches for Tatsuya's hands until their fingers are looped together. "I want to. Just not today. She was already disappointed about her mom, and I didn't want to make things more stressful for her."

Tatsuya hums and brushes hair out of his eyes. His voice is quiet and thoughtful. "Children can tell when you're lying."

"I don't want to lie, especially about us." Nijimura squeezes Tatsuya's hand. "Besides. I think she likes you."

In response, Tatsuya loops his arms around Nijimura's neck. Tatsuya’s quiet boldness is something Nijimura has always admired, and it seems appropriate in this moment. "You like me too."

Nijimura touches Tatsuya's jaw. "Yes, I do."

"Do you think I'm pretty too?"

"You know I do," Nijimura says and kisses him.

This is so cute *_* I am laughing at Nina's outrage over Nijimura lying to her about being the prettiest and sidestepping her question, also the fact that Haizaki of all ppl has a basketball hoop over his desk

I will never get over how Nijimura thinks Himuro is super pretty and I'm glad that runs in the family

I only ever liked Haizaki when Nijimura was in the picture, so you'll only ever see him in a fic that contains Nijimura lol... :'') and Nijimura's eyes cannot lie... Himuro rly is the fairest of them all

first off, I AM SO SORRY FOR THIS REALLY LATE REPLY BUT I WILL HAVE YOU KNOW I READ THIS PRETTY SOON AFTER YOU POSTED THIS AKA ONCE I GOT THE EMAIL NOTIF I WAS IMPATIENTLY WAITING FOR IT TO LOAD

i ended up reading it as i was leaving my internship office on tuesday (i couldn't wait) and i was so excited that i almost dropped my phone and squealed in the middle of a parking lot. i am so so so glad this prompt got filled THANK YOU SO MUCH
